According to Tri Thức – Znews, Dongfeng Motor Vietnam has just announced the price of the Box EV model during a customer conference. The starting price for this B-segment SUV is VND 550 million.

The version introduced in Vietnam has almost identical exterior design and dimensions to the one recently launched in Malaysia in late November. Specifically, the car measures 4,030 x 1,810 x 1,570 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm.

As revealed at the conference, the Box EV in Vietnam is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 70 kW of power, equivalent to 95 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 125 Nm.

The Lithium-ion battery pack, mounted underneath the vehicle’s floor, offers a capacity ranging from 31.4 to 42.3 kWh. This enables a driving range of approximately 330-430 km per charge based on the CLTC standard, or 271-353 km per charge according to the more commonly used WLTP standard.

While the DongFeng Motor website is still accepting reservations, the launch date remains unknown. Previously, the distributor had promised to introduce this model in November but unexpectedly postponed it without providing a reason.

DongFeng vehicles are now distributed in Vietnam through Carvivu, a company specializing in importing Chinese-made cars. Carvivu is also the distributor of Haima vehicles in the Vietnamese market.

In 2021, DongFeng made its first appearance in Vietnam with the T5 EVO, priced at approximately VND 769 million. However, due to its high price and the “Made-in-China” label, the SUV struggled to find success, forcing dealers to sell it at a loss for less than VND 400 million before quietly exiting the market.

Of course, with a familiar brand that has yet to establish a positive reputation, the success of this hatchback will depend heavily on its pricing and the brand’s sales strategy in 2025.

Some potential competitors for the DongFeng Box EV in Vietnam include the BYD Dolphin (VND 659 million), Wuling Bingo (VND 349-569 million), and VinFast VF 5 (VND 460-548 million).
