The BMW 2800CS, a classic car over 50 years old, was recently spotted on the bustling streets of Saigon. Despite being parked on one of the city’s most vibrant streets, the BMW 2800CS still turned heads with its timeless, elegant design. Produced from 1968 to 1975, the BMW 2800CS, with its E9 code, is the predecessor to the modern BMW 6-Series.
The BMW 2800CS featured here is finished in a stunning sky blue exterior color, accented by chrome detailing on the front, sides, and rear. Even after more than half a century, the 2-door coupe retains its sleek appearance, a testament to the meticulous care and preservation by its owner.
The BMW 2800CS has dimensions of 4,658 mm in length, 1,681 mm in width, and 1,377 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,616 mm. It is built on a dedicated racing chassis that has seen success in the European Touring Car Championship and Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. The BMW 2800CS was a popular sports car in the 1970s, known for its exceptional performance and handling.
Under the hood, the BMW 2800CS is powered by a 2.8L inline-6 naturally aspirated engine. This carbureted powerplant produces 168 horsepower and 234 Nm of torque, delivered to the rear wheels. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission, a luxurious feature for its time, over half a century ago.
