According to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), its members sold a total of 18,893 vehicles in January 2025, a 40.2% decrease from the previous month and a 1.8% decline from the same period last year.
This breakdown includes 14,201 passenger cars, 4,354 commercial vehicles, and 338 specialized vehicles. Compared to December 2024, there was a 42% drop in passenger car sales, a 33% decrease in commercial vehicle sales, and a 40% decline in specialized vehicle sales.
Domestic assembled vehicle sales reached 9,120 units, a 29% decrease from the previous month, while completely built-up imported vehicle sales were 9,773 units, a 48% drop. Notably, VinFast’s sales also witnessed a significant decline in January 2025, reaching just over 10,000 units, or 50% of the previous month’s sales (20,000 units).

VinFast VF 3: 4,000 units
Despite a decrease in sales compared to December 2024, the VinFast VF 3 maintained its strong performance as the best-selling model in the entire market in the first month of 2025, with 4,000 units sold, outperforming other gasoline and diesel models in the Vietnamese market.
Currently, the VinFast VF 3 rental battery version is priced at 235 million VND, and the version with a battery included is 315 million VND. These prices do not include options for colors or official accessories.
VinFast VF 5: 3,300 units
Right behind the VF 3 is its “sibling,” the VinFast VF 5. In January 2025, VinFast delivered a total of 3,300 VF 5 vehicles to customers, a 32.6% decrease from the previous month.
The VF 5 is sold at 468 million VND without a charging battery and 559 million VND with a battery and charger. At this time, car buyers will be exempt from registration fees and can charge for free at VinFast charging stations.
Ford Ranger: 1,115 units
In January, the Ford Ranger recorded sales of 1,115 units, a 30.5% decrease from the previous month and a slight 2.5% decline from January 2024. Nonetheless, the Ford Ranger remains the best-selling gasoline and diesel model in the Vietnamese market in the first month of the new year.
Ford Ranger is currently distributed in Vietnam with 7 versions, with prices ranging from 669 million to 1.299 billion VND.
Mazda CX-5: 1,000 units
With sales of 1,000 units in January, an 11.1% decrease from the previous month, the Mazda CX-5 still climbed up several ranks to become the fourth best-selling model in the top 10 for January 2025.
The Mazda CX-5 is sold in Vietnam with 3 versions, with prices ranging from 749 to 829 million VND.
Mitsubishi Xpander: 808 units

Ranking fifth in the best-selling models for January is the Mitsubishi Xpander, with sales of 808 units, a 59.4% decrease from December 2024 and a 37.1% decline from the same period last year.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is distributed in Vietnam with 4 versions: MT, AT, AT Premium, and Xpander Cross, with prices ranging from 560 to 698 million VND.
Ford Territory: 700 units
After a period of absence, the Ford Territory made a spectacular comeback in January 2025, with sales of 700 units, ranking sixth in the best-selling models for the month.
The Ford Territory is currently assembled at a factory in Hai Duong with 4 versions: Trend, Titanium, Sport, and Titanium X, with prices ranging from 759 to 889 million VND.
Toyota Yaris Cross: 645 units
In January 2025, Toyota delivered a total of 645 Yaris Cross vehicles to customers, a 59.1% decrease from December but a 128% increase from the same period in 2024.
The Toyota Yaris Cross is sold in Vietnam with 2 versions, priced at 730 million and 838 million VND, respectively.
Honda City: 568 units
After about two months of absence from the best-selling models list, the Honda City made a surprise comeback in January with sales of 568 units, a 31.5% increase from the previous month and a 17.8% rise from January 2024.
The Honda City is sold in Vietnam with 3 versions, with prices ranging from 559 to 609 million VND.
Mitsubishi Xforce: 552 units
In January 2025, the Mitsubishi Xforce recorded sales of 552 units, less than half of the previous month’s sales.
The vehicle is currently imported as a completely built unit from Indonesia to Vietnam with 4 versions: GLX, Exceed, Premium, and Ultimate, with prices ranging from 599 to 705 million VND.
Hyundai Accent: 530 units
Ranking tenth in the best-selling models for January is the Hyundai Accent with sales of 530 units in January 2025, a 71.5% decrease from the previous month and a 42.1% decline from January 2024.
The Hyundai Accent is currently sold with 4 versions, with prices ranging from 439 to 569 million VND.
