After nearly a year of sales in its home market of China under the name Yuan Up, BYD’s electric vehicle offering has now officially launched in the European market as the Atto 2.
The BYD Atto 2 boasts impressive dimensions with a length of 4,310 mm, a width of 1,830 mm, and a height of 1,675 mm, while its wheelbase spans 2,620 mm. These measurements rival those of popular B-segment SUVs such as the Mitsubishi Xforce and Kia Seltos.
The Atto 2 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which it shares with the Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seal models.
Design-wise, the BYD Atto 2 closely resembles its Chinese counterpart, the Yuan Up. However, it features a redesigned front bumper for a simpler look, along with new alloy wheels. The rear of the vehicle sports a unique taillight design with a knot-like pattern, drawing inspiration from the BYD Han sedan available in Vietnam.
Step inside the Atto 2, and you’ll find a prominent 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen that can rotate 90 degrees. The cabin features synthetic leather seats with a plant-based origin, electrically adjustable front seats, and a panoramic sunroof—a rare find in this price segment.
Under the hood, the BYD Atto 2 is powered by a 45.12 kWh Blade Battery pack. This energy source feeds an electric motor mounted on the front axle, delivering 174 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. The Atto 2 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, reach a top speed of 160 km/h, and offers a maximum range of 312 km on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle.
The vehicle supports fast DC charging up to 65 kW and AC charging up to 11 kW.
In Europe, the BYD Atto 2 is available in two trim levels: Active and Boost. The main differences between the two trims lie in their parking sensors and surround-view camera systems.
BYD has not yet disclosed the pricing details for the European market, but in China, the Atto 2 is priced between $13,280 and $16,430 (approximately 337 to 416 million VND).
