The Ultimate Luxury Sedan Showdown: Maextro S800 Takes on the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

Maextro is an exciting new automotive venture, developed through a collaboration between Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC). The brand is poised to take on the likes of Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Maybach in the luxury car market.

Maextro S800 boasts impressive dimensions of 5,480 x 2,000 x 1,536 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,370 mm, rivaling the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in size.

The exterior styling of the Maextro S800 takes inspiration from Maybach, offering a two-tone color scheme. The car’s wheels also echo the distinctive covered wheel design of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, while the rear end evokes a Porsche Panamera.

Maextro S800 features a vertical grille flanked by horizontal LED bars and vertical headlights, encircled by a delicate galaxy-like light strip. This design element is repeated throughout the car, including the taillights and door handles.

The headlights are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including driver-tracking and real-time environment perception capabilities. They interact with both the driver and pedestrians, enhancing safety on the road.

Maextro S800 is fitted with an array of 32 sensors, including 4 LiDAR 192-line sensors, enabling it to detect obstacles even in challenging conditions such as rain, dust, or fog.

While the Chinese automaker has not yet revealed images of the Maextro S800‘s interior, leaked photos suggest that it will feature two luxurious business-class seats and a starry sky roof.

As a subsidiary of Huawei, Maextro S800 will undoubtedly be packed with advanced technology, including Huawei ADS road recognition system, Huawei DATS (Dynamic Torque Vectoring System), and Huawei Xmotion vehicle control system.

In the event of a collision, the ADAS system can automatically adjust the vehicle’s posture, seat position, tighten seatbelts, raise windows, and unlock the central control. Post-collision, the Maextro S800 will switch to backup power and transmit rescue information.

The S800 offers a choice of pure electric (BEV) or extended-range electric (EREV) powertrains.

The BEV variant is powered by three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 852 horsepower.

The EREV version combines a 1.5L turbocharged engine with three electric motors, resulting in a staggering 1,020 horsepower. In this configuration, the Maextro S800’s 63 kWh NMC battery provides an impressive all-electric range of up to 371 kilometers.

The Maextro S800 is equipped with an active suspension system that adapts to speed bumps and uneven road surfaces. Additionally, its four-wheel drive technology enables this 5.48-meter-long sedan to achieve a turning radius of just 5.05 meters in daily driving scenarios, which can be further reduced to 3.8 meters in special mode.

The Maextro S800 is scheduled to go on sale in the Chinese market in May, with an expected price range of 1 to 1.5 million CNY (approximately 3.5 to 5.25 billion VND).
