The Mazda 6e is the successor to the Mazda6. In reality, this model is the European version of the Mazda EZ-6, which was launched in China through the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

According to Reuters, Mr. Masahiro Moro, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation, announced that the company would invest an additional 5 billion Baht (approximately $150 million) in two plants: Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT) and Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing Thailand (MPMT). Thailand will become the hub for producing compact electric SUVs/CUVs for domestic sales and exports.

“This investment supports domestic sales and exports to Japan and other countries, such as ASEAN nations. Our target is to produce 100,000 vehicles annually,” said President Mazda, Moro Masahiro.

Mazda plans to introduce five new models in the Southeast Asian market by 2028. Before launching the mild-hybrid SUV, Mazda will expand its product portfolio with the electric Mazda 6e, expected to debut in Thailand by the end of this year.

Mazda 6e is the result of a collaboration between the Japanese car brand and Changan Automobile. This model retains Mazda’s design language, Kodo Soul of Motion. Like other Mazda models, the 6e is sleek and elegant with a modern design. The front of the car features a distinctive grille surrounded by LED lights that flash to indicate the battery’s status during charging. The 6e’s low-slung hood and sports-inspired design make it look truly athletic. Its frameless doors, low roofline, and active rear spoiler enhance the car’s dynamic and muscular appearance.

The Mazda 6e’s interior boasts a modern space focused on comfort and technology. Notable features include a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Other highlights include 64-color LED ambient lighting, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, and gravity-reducing front seats.

Mazda offers two battery options for the 6e: a smaller 68.8 kWh battery that delivers a range of up to 483 kilometers and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes at a 200 kW charging station. With a 15-minute charge, the car can achieve a range of 233 kilometers. The second option is an 80 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 555 kilometers but requires 45 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

The 68.8 kWh battery version produces 258 horsepower, accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. The larger battery option generates 244 horsepower, resulting in a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds. The rear-wheel drive promises an exhilarating driving experience.
