At the 2024 Philippines International Auto Show, Mitsubishi unveiled the DST, a new concept car. This is seen as the concept version of the new 7-seat Mitsubishi Xforce.
Mitsubishi DST Concept: A Glimpse into the Future
Just a few months later, the 7-seat Mitsubishi Xforce was spotted road testing in West Java, Indonesia. It appears that Indonesia will be the first market to receive this compact SUV, similar to the previous 5-seat Xforce.
The 7-seat Mitsubishi Xforce was spotted undergoing road tests in Southeast Asia, sparking excitement among automotive enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, the Mitsubishi Xforce 7-seater was heavily camouflaged during its appearance in Indonesia, so we don’t have much information about its design yet.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the Mitsubishi Xforce 7-seater has a more restrained design compared to the concept, to fit the image of a commercial vehicle. It will also likely feature regular side-view mirrors instead of the digital cameras seen on the concept.
The vehicle is equipped with a large grille and vertically positioned headlights with LED daytime running lights, similar to the 5-seat Xforce. It also sports a wide central air intake with a rectangular design and fog lights on the front bumper. The side body lines, wheel arches, taillights, and rear bumper are expected to be similar to the 5-seat version.
The Mitsubishi Xforce 7-seater was heavily camouflaged during its road tests in Indonesia, hinting at a future reveal.
The most significant difference between the 7-seater and the 5-seater Xforce is the larger third window in the former, indicating the presence of a third row of seats. Additionally, the 7-seater is equipped with roof rails, which are absent in the 5-seat version.
While we don’t have any images of the 7-seat Mitsubishi Xforce’s interior yet, it is likely to share some features with the 5-seat model. These could include a multifunctional steering wheel, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium 8-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear seat vents, nanoeX air purification, wireless phone charging, and USB Type-A/Type-C ports, along with ambient lighting.
Mitsubishi has not revealed the engine specifications for the 7-seat Xforce yet, but they have confirmed that it will have front-wheel drive, a high ground clearance, and five drive modes (Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Mud, and Wet).
In contrast, the 5-seat Mitsubishi Xforce is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 103 horsepower. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Additionally, Mitsubishi is developing a hybrid version of the Xforce. The Mitsubishi Xforce HEV is expected to feature a 1.6L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that generates 95 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque. This engine will be combined with an electric motor, resulting in a total output of 116 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque.
According to previous information, the Mitsubishi Xforce 7-seater will primarily target the Southeast Asian market. It is expected to be launched officially later this year.
Mitsubishi has stated that the 7-seat Xforce will join their lineup in Southeast Asia, alongside the Xforce, Pajero Sport, and Xpander Cross. This means that it is not a direct replacement for any of their current SUVs.
