February 26, 2025 – VinFast officially announces the end of its battery rental policy for automobiles and electric motorcycles, effective March 1, 2025, along with attractive support packages for all vehicles with included batteries. This adjustment aligns with the practical needs of the market, minimizing monthly energy costs and bringing clear benefits to customers.
The battery rental model was an innovative and groundbreaking solution introduced by VinFast in the initial phase of its transition to an electric vehicle manufacturer. This model aimed to reduce customers’ initial total payments, making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable. After more than three years of successful implementation, the battery rental model has proven its effectiveness, enabling a vast number of customers to embrace electric vehicles, eliminating psychological barriers, and fostering a greener transportation trend in Vietnam.
With technological advancements and practical operating experience, VinFast has demonstrated the high quality and durability of its batteries. Additionally, the company offers a 10-year warranty on both vehicles and batteries, along with attractive incentives such as free charging until the end of June 2027. These factors have contributed to a significant increase in the number of customers opting to purchase vehicles with included batteries, while the demand for battery rental has decreased considerably.
Customers who currently own automobiles and electric motorcycles under the battery rental scheme can choose to continue with the existing policy or purchase the batteries from VinFast at preferential prices. Furthermore, VinFast is extending support to customers who own electric automobiles with included batteries by offering an additional six-month extension of the free charging policy, valid until December 31, 2027.
Regarding electric motorcycles, VinFast will soon introduce a convenient charging box system at its official stores and dealerships nationwide, providing customers with free charging for one year.
Ms. Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy General Director of Global VinFast Sales, shared, “The battery rental policy has fulfilled its historical mission by providing many customers with the opportunity to experience electric vehicles at attractive costs. With our new pricing strategy, the cost of owning VinFast vehicles with included batteries is now among the best in the market and highly competitive compared to gasoline vehicles in the same segment. We believe that with our superior products, competitive pricing, and exceptional after-sales policies, VinFast will continue to earn the trust and strong support of our valued customers, together driving the green transportation trend, reducing emissions, and building a more sustainable future.”
In 2024, VinFast delivered a total of 97,399 electric automobiles, 70,977 electric motorcycles, and e-scooters globally. In the Vietnamese market, VinFast has emerged as the leading automotive brand, dominating the market with its diverse range of electric vehicles across mini-SUV and E-SUV segments, outperforming both domestic and foreign gasoline and electric vehicle brands. For 2025, VinFast aims to double its global vehicle deliveries compared to the previous year.
