Volvo Cars North America is ringing in the new year with a series of strategic and product line changes. According to *Carscoops*, the company will be dropping the “Recharge” moniker from all its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, replacing it with the T8 designation to differentiate them from its battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).

The Volvo XC40 Recharge has been renamed the EX40. This PHEV model has also been upgraded with enhanced charging capabilities and an increased battery capacity of 82 kWh in the dual-motor version.

The C40 Recharge will be temporarily discontinued this year and is expected to return to the market in 2026 as the EC40. *Carscoops* reports that low sales figures are among the reasons for this interruption.

In addition to renaming and discontinuing some of its current models, Volvo has announced plans to introduce new products, including the EX30 and EX90. The EX30 will feature an electric motor with all-wheel drive, delivering 428 horsepower and a maximum torque of 542 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and has an estimated range of 253 miles per charge under EPA standards. The EX30 is expected to be priced at approximately $44,900.

The EX90, set to launch this year, will have a starting price of around $79,995. It will be equipped with front and rear electric motors, producing 402 horsepower and a maximum torque of 769 Nm. The EX90 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and offers a range of up to 310 miles on a single charge.

Volvo also introduced the new-generation XC90 towards the end of 2024, with a starting price of approximately $58,450. The standard XC90 is powered by an electric motor that generates 250 horsepower and 360 Nm of maximum torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds.
