Kia is refining its electric vehicle lineup with plans to launch a range of new electric models, including the PV5, EV2, and EV4. Among these, the most notable is the EV2 – a B-segment electric CUV scheduled for release in 2026.
The concept version of the Kia EV2 was recently unveiled at the EV Day event held in Barcelona, Spain. The EV2 concept showcases the brand’s “vision of a future electric SUV.” It is likely to be the smallest member of Kia’s electric lineup, at least until the EV1 – a city car-sized electric model – arrives.
The Kia EV2 features a bold, futuristic design with elements such as a boxy front end, large plastic cladding, thin taillights, and a low-mounted bumper. According to the manufacturer, the production model will remain true to the concept, although some features will be refined.
Inside, the Concept EV2 impresses with its practical 4-seat layout. The front seats can slide backward, and the rear seats can be fully folded down, creating a spacious area for storage or relaxation when the vehicle is not in motion. Kia has also included unique features such as triangular door-mounted speakers, a wireless charging pad on the dashboard, a retractable luggage partition, and a large central display.
Although Kia has not released official specifications, the EV2 is predicted to utilize the E-GMP platform – a dedicated electric vehicle platform developed by the Hyundai-Kia group. However, it will likely feature a 400V system instead of the 800V system found in higher-end models. The battery capacity is expected to be in the range of 49 to 55 kWh, offering an estimated range of 300 to 400 kilometers on a single charge, depending on driving conditions.
The EV2 is anticipated to have a maximum output of around 113 horsepower, similar to the Hyundai Inster, another compact electric model from the same group.
In Europe, the Kia EV2 is expected to be priced at approximately 30,000 euros (around 800 million VND) when it launches in 2026. Kia has stated that the vehicle will also be sold in other regions, but specific details have not yet been provided. If introduced in Vietnam, the EV2 will compete directly with the VinFast VF 5.
