In addition to protecting the user’s head, helmets nowadays are integrated with modern technologies that enhance convenience and safety. Recently, Shark has introduced the Skwal i3 line, which features a built-in brake light.
The Shark Skwal i3 has no connections to the vehicle’s braking system. Instead, it utilizes a 3-axis accelerometer to detect when the rider applies the brakes. The brake light flashes at different speeds depending on the braking force, with a normal brake causing the light to flash 3 times per second and an abrupt stop increasing the frequency to 5 times per second.
Embedded within the helmet is a battery that provides up to 12 hours of illumination and takes 3 hours to fully charge. In addition to the brake light, the Skwal i3 also incorporates a white LED light at the front, further enhancing the rider’s safety.

The Skwal i3 is the first helmet from Shark to utilize Best Fit technology. This technology employs 3D images to facilitate the production of the inner lining, ensuring a precise fit. The helmet is offered in two extra-large sizes, XS and XXL, providing a wide range of options for users to choose from.
Shark has not yet disclosed the price or release date for the Skwal i3. Given the innovative technologies incorporated, it is safe to assume that the helmet will come at a significant cost.
