Mitsubishi has recently introduced a special edition called the ‘Play’ for both the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV in the Southeast Asian market.
This move could heighten expectations among Vietnamese consumers as the Xpander is Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam’s best-selling model.
The ‘Play’ edition features a host of modern upgrades for both the Xpander and Xpander Cross. The Xpander HEV Play is offered in two exterior colors: White Diamond and Graphite Grey. Meanwhile, the Xpander Cross HEV Play introduces a new Green Bronze option.
In terms of design, the Xpander Cross HEV Play boasts a grille painted in the body color, bearing a resemblance to the third-generation Triton.
On the other hand, the Mitsubishi Xpander HEV Play sports a sporty body kit, comprising extended front bumpers, side skirts, and a rear bumper with a black diffuser.
Both special editions come with a blacked-out roof, mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, and unique smoked taillights.
Aside from the exterior changes, the interior and powertrain of the Mitsubishi models remain unchanged. The vehicles are powered by a hybrid system that combines a 1.6L engine with an electric motor and a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. They offer impressive fuel efficiency, consuming just 5.21 liters per 100 kilometers, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds.
In Thailand, the Xpander HEV Play and Xpander Cross HEV Play are priced at 981,000 baht (approximately 738 million VND). This price tag is 20,000 baht (15 million VND) higher than the standard Xpander Cross HEV and 48,000 baht (36 million VND) more than the standard Xpander HEV.
The Mitsubishi Xpander HEV Play and Xpander Cross HEV Play are set to make their debut at the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) later this month.
