In early 2025, Mercedes-AMG teased an upcoming all-electric super SUV in development.

The new model, expected to be named the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, is slated for a 2026 launch and will utilize AMG’s dedicated AMG.EA platform.

Unlike other SUVs in the AMG lineup, this vehicle will be developed entirely by AMG, rather than being a modified version of an existing Mercedes-Benz model.

To give enthusiasts a better idea of what to expect, Kolesa.ru has released renderings of the AMG super SUV.

As evident from the images, the design of the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV draws inspiration from the Mercedes Vision AMG Concept unveiled in 2022. Being an electric vehicle, it will feature a large faux grille and distinctive headlights with a three-pointed star graphic. Meanwhile, the rear stands out with its oversized taillights that wrap around the tailgate.

The German automaker has revealed that the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is expected to have an overall length of around 5.1 meters, with a wheelbase of over 3 meters. With these dimensions, the super SUV will compete in the large SUV segment alongside the GLS/EQS.

In terms of interior design, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV’s cabin could take cues from the existing EQS framework or even the Maybach GLS.

The super SUV is anticipated to feature a four-motor, all-wheel-drive system with a combined output of over 1,000 horsepower. Having a motor for each wheel enables advanced torque vectoring and four-wheel steering capabilities. Additionally, it will be equipped with AMG-exclusive suspension, batteries, and an 800V charging system.

According to plans, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV will debut in 2026 and could go on sale by mid-2027.

It will go up against rivals such as the Aston Martin DBX, Porsche Cayenne GT, BMW XM, Lamborghini Urus, and Lotus Eletre. Given the competition and its size, the price tag for this super SUV is expected to be premium, possibly exceeding that of the Maybach GLS in the same size segment.
