February 2025 saw a continued slump in the Vietnamese automotive market due to the influence of the Lunar New Year holiday. During the past month, members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) sold 21,606 vehicles to domestic consumers, a 14.3% increase compared to the previous month. This figure includes 14,549 passenger cars, 6,775 commercial vehicles, and 282 special-purpose vehicles.
Additionally, passenger car sales increased by 2.5%, commercial vehicle sales surged by 56%, and special-purpose vehicle sales decreased by 17% compared to January 2025. Domestic assembly sales reached 11,067 units, a 21% increase. Meanwhile, completely built-up (CBU) imports recorded 10,539 units, an 8% rise.
Hyundai’s sales figures for February 2025 reached 3,022 units, a 1.69% decline. In contrast, VinFast sold over 12,500 electric vehicles, a 20% increase compared to the previous month. VinFast’s success is evident in the list of the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam for February 2025 below.

Top 10 Best-Selling Automobiles in Vietnam, February 2025 (in units)
During February, four VinFast models made it to the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam: VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7. The sales figures for these four models were 5,200 units, 3,000 units, 2,000 units, and 570 units, respectively. With these results, VinFast VF 3, VF 5, and VF 6 occupied the top three spots in the market. Meanwhile, the VinFast VF 7 ranked tenth.
Compared to the previous month, the VF 3’s sales grew by a remarkable 30%. In contrast, the VF 5 experienced a 9.9% decline in sales.
Ranking fourth in the list of the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam for February 2025 was the Ford Ranger. This pickup truck sold 1,111 units, just four units shy of its January 2025 sales figure. This demonstrates the stable sales performance of Ford’s model. Additionally, the Ranger was the best-selling vehicle with an internal combustion engine in the Vietnamese market.
Following the Ford Ranger was the Mitsubishi Xpander, with 1,053 units sold, representing a remarkable 30.3% growth. The Xpander maintained its position as the best-selling model in the MPV segment and for the Mitsubishi brand in Vietnam.
Mazda CX-5 secured the sixth position in the top 10. Compared to the previous month, this model witnessed a decline in both sales volume and ranking. In February 2025, 923 units of this compact SUV were sold, reflecting a 7.7% decrease. Nonetheless, the CX-5 remained the top-selling model in the compact SUV segment and for the Mazda brand in Vietnam.
The Ford Everest claimed the seventh spot in the top 10. During the past month, 760 Vietnamese consumers purchased this mid-size SUV, resulting in an impressive 153.3% growth. This performance solidified the Ford Everest’s number one position in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam.
Trailing closely behind the Ford model was the Toyota Vios, with sales of 754 units, representing a 53.8% increase. With these figures, the Vios surpassed both the Honda City and the Hyundai Accent, reclaiming the top spot in the compact sedan segment. Additionally, the Vios was the sole representative of the Toyota brand in the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam for February 2025.
Hot on the heels of the Toyota Vios was its direct competitor, the Honda City. During February 2025, the Honda City was the choice of 743 Vietnamese consumers, reflecting a 30.8% increase. It was the best-selling model for the Honda brand in the past month.
The Vietnamese automotive market is predicted to gradually recover in March 2025. Car manufacturers and dealers are currently offering attractive promotional programs to attract customers.
