Morgan Unveils the Supersport: A Perfect Blend of Classic Design and Modern Technology
With an improved chassis, aerodynamic exterior, and a comfortable interior, the Supersport is positioned to compete with the likes of Porsche and Aston Martin while retaining Morgan’s signature handcrafted appeal.
The Supersport maintains Morgan’s classic look but with a modern twist, featuring a sportier and more aerodynamic design. The front end stands out with its bold sports bumper, large LED headlights with integrated turn signals, and a distinctive horse-shoe grille leading to the long bonnet with heat extractors. The elegant, curved mudguards hug the body, complemented by the standard Superlite 18-inch wheels. Customers have the option to upgrade to 19-inch Aerolite alloy wheels, enhancing both aesthetics and weight reduction.
The rear of the car has also been modernized with low-mounted LED taillights, housed within a diffuser that incorporates dual exhaust tips, creating a powerful and refined look. The Supersport is a convertible with a soft-top mohair roof that can be folded down, but customers can also opt for a hardtop made from carbon fiber, transforming it into a coupe and offering maximum flexibility.
Staying true to Morgan’s century-old tradition, the Supersport’s body is crafted from aluminum, meticulously handmade over an ash wood frame. Notably, 60% of the aluminum used in the body and chassis is recycled, showcasing the brand’s commitment to environmental sustainability without compromising on quality.
Inside, the Supersport features an interior similar to the Plus Six, offering a range of luxurious options, including Scottish leather upholstery and elegant wood trim. However, Morgan has improved storage space with a rear compartment behind the seats, a glove box, a small trunk, and an optional luggage rack. Although the exact capacity is not specified, Morgan assures that the trunk can accommodate an overnight bag and side luggage for short trips. The interior is further enhanced with a Sennheiser sound system, wireless charging on the central console, and hands-free calling capabilities—all firsts for a Morgan automobile.
The Supersport boasts the new CXV aluminum chassis, which is stiffer than its predecessor, coupled with an improved steering system and redesigned suspension with longer travel. As a result, the car delivers an engaging driving experience while remaining comfortable for daily use. For those seeking a sportier feel, Morgan offers an optional adjustable Nitron suspension and a limited-slip differential. Despite the upgrades, the car maintains an impressive lightweight of just 1,170 kg.
Under the bonnet, the Supersport is powered by a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine with turbocharging, delivering an impressive 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque—matching the performance of the discontinued Plus Six. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox, ensuring smooth and potent performance.
In the UK, the Morgan Supersport starts at £85,000 (approximately $110,000 or 2.75 billion VND). With taxes, the on-the-road price rises to £105,160 (around $136,000 or 3.4 billion VND).
Each Supersport is handcrafted at Morgan’s Pickersleigh Road factory in the UK. The company has started taking orders, with the first deliveries expected in mid-April this year.
