According to Carscoops, the Suzuki Jimny Nomade – the five-door version of the compact SUV – is garnering immense interest from customers in its home market. In fact, the Japanese automaker has had to temporarily halt reservations due to overwhelming demand.

Just four days after its official launch in Japan, Suzuki announced that it had received approximately 50,000 reservations for the Jimny Nomade. With the current supply for the Japanese market at 1,200 units per month, Carscoops estimates that customers in Japan could be waiting up to three and a half years to get their hands on the vehicle.

In an official post on its website, Suzuki apologized to interested Japanese customers for the temporary suspension of orders. The automaker acknowledged that the number of reservations far exceeded its current production capacity and stated that it would provide updates on when reservations would reopen, while also considering future production plans.

Per Carscoops, the extended wheelbase and the addition of two rear doors make the Suzuki Jimny Nomade a more practical choice for daily use, without compromising its distinctive off-road capabilities.

Despite a length increase of 340 mm, the five-door Suzuki Jimny remains compact, with an overall length of 3,890 mm. This is believed to be a key factor in the early popularity of the Jimny Nomade in Japan.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade is manufactured at Suzuki’s Gurugram plant in India and exported to various markets, including Japan, Southeast Asian countries, South Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The first deliveries of the five-door Suzuki Jimny in Japan are expected on April 3. To meet the overwhelming demand, Suzuki has also canceled all previously planned exhibition events for the Jimny Nomade in Japan.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade is priced at 2,651,000 yen (approximately 17,135 USD) in the Japanese market, which is 566,500 yen (around 3,660 USD) more expensive than the three-door version.

It retains the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, producing 103 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque. The compact SUV is offered with a choice of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade also introduces new exterior color options, including Sizzling Red Metallic and Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic.
