February 2025 was another slow month for the Vietnamese automotive market, partly due to the coincidence with the Lunar New Year celebrations. This is evident from the sales figures of the C-segment SUVs for the past month, with no model selling more than 1,000 units.

C-segment SUV sales table for Feb 2025 (units: vehicles)

Mazda CX-5: 923 units

The familiar name of Mazda CX-5 continues to lead the C-segment SUV market. In February 2025, this Mazda model sold 923 units, a 7.7% decrease compared to the previous month. With this result, the CX-5 not only topped its segment but also made it to the top 10 best-selling cars in the entire Vietnamese market for February 2025.

Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is a hard-to-resist offering due to its competitive pricing, which starts from as low as 749 million VND to 979 million VND. Additionally, this model offers a total of seven versions, providing a wide range of choices for domestic customers. Its design appeals to Vietnamese tastes, and it comes fully equipped with convenient and safe features, making the CX-5 even more attractive.

In Vietnam, the Mazda CX-5 is available with two gasoline engine options: a 2.0L and a 2.5L. These engines produce 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Ford Territory: 464 units

Similar to the previous month, the Ford Territory maintained its position as the second best-selling model in the C-segment SUV category, with 464 units sold in February. However, compared to January 2025, the Ford model witnessed a significant sales decline of 33.7%.

Ford Territory

Since its launch in the Vietnamese market in late 2022, the Ford Territory has consistently performed well in its segment. Its success can be attributed to its competitive pricing, ranging from 759 million VND to 889 million VND, modern design, spacious interior, and features that rival those of its competitors.

The Ford Territory in Vietnam is equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum power of 160 horsepower and a peak torque of 248 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Honda CR-V: 410 units

February 2025 witnessed a surge for the Honda CR-V, as it sold 410 units, a 9.4% decrease compared to the previous month. With this result, the CR-V reclaimed its position as the third best-selling model in the C-segment SUV category, surpassing its rival, the Hyundai Tucson.

Honda CR-V

In March 2025, Honda is offering a 100% registration fee discount for the G standard version and a 50% discount for the L 2WD version of the CR-V. Given that the registration fee is set at 10%, customers will save 103 million VND for the G version and 55 million VND for the L version. As a result, the CR-V can be owned for just over 900 million VND, making it one of the most discounted C-segment SUVs, along with the Subaru Forester.

The Honda CR-V has a higher price range within its segment, starting from 1.029 billion VND to 1.259 billion VND. However, it has a stable customer base thanks to its eye-catching design and comprehensive features. Additionally, it is one of the few SUVs in its class that offers a hybrid engine option for better fuel efficiency.

Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower. This engine is combined with two electric motors that generate a total of 181 horsepower. Together, they deliver a total system output of 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the remaining three versions of the Honda CR-V are powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Hyundai Tucson: 403 units

The rise of the Honda CR-V pushed the Hyundai Tucson to fourth place in the C-segment SUV category. In February, Hyundai sold 403 Tucson units in Vietnam, a 15.3% decrease compared to the previous month.

Hyundai Tucson

Similar to the Mazda CX-5 and Ford Territory, the Hyundai Tucson appeals to customers with its reasonable pricing, starting from 769 million VND to 979 million VND for four different versions. Additionally, it boasts a distinctive design, a spacious interior thanks to its large wheelbase, and a host of convenient and safe features.

Moreover, the Hyundai Tucson offers three engine options: the Smartstream 2.0L MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines produce 156 horsepower/192 Nm, 186 horsepower/416 Nm, and 180 horsepower/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with either a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Kia Sportage: 176 units

In contrast to its competitors mentioned above, the Kia Sportage experienced a more successful month in February 2025 compared to January. Its sales reached 176 units, representing a growth of 28.4%. However, the Sportage’s sales figures remain modest, keeping it in fifth place in its segment.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage has a less attractive price range, starting from 819 million VND to 999 million VND. Its exterior design has also been criticized as not appealing to the majority of users.

In terms of engine options, the Kia Sportage shares the same powertrain as the Hyundai Tucson, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 34 units

Once again, the Mitsubishi Outlander finds itself in the last position within the C-segment SUV category. In the past month, this model sold 34 units, a slight increase of 6.25%.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Similar to February 2025, Mitsubishi is offering a 50% discount on the registration fee for the Outlander CVT version, along with a 10 million VND fuel voucher and a 360-degree panoramic camera worth 20 million VND. The total value of these incentives for this C-segment SUV amounts to approximately 70 million VND.

Mitsubishi has continuously provided promotional programs for the Outlander, but its sales have not improved significantly. This could be due to its less competitive pricing, ranging from 825 million VND to 950 million VND. Additionally, the model hasn’t received any significant upgrades in terms of design or features for quite some time.

Under the hood of the Mitsubishi Outlander sold in Vietnam is a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a maximum power of 145 horsepower and a peak torque of 196 Nm. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
