A KIA Sorento with a fake license plate was found to have an actual license plate of 60K-209.XX.

Specifically, at 11:05 pm on March 16, the 2nd Highway Road Traffic Police Team (Department of Road Traffic Police) stopped and inspected a KIA Sorento car with license plate number 30K-389.99 at Km10 of the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway (in the toll booth area, Hai Phong – Hanoi direction). During the inspection, the driver, Dang V.V. (born 1987, residing in Hai Duong province) presented his driver’s license and a vehicle registration pledge receipt issued by Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank, valid until May 15, 2025.

However, this pledge receipt was for a car with the license plate number 60K-209.XX. When questioned by the authorities, Mr. V. admitted that the car was bearing a fake license plate and that the actual license plate number was 60K-209.XX.

The 2nd Team proceeded to take statements from Mr. V. and drew up a report for two violations. Specifically, the driver was fined VND 5 million for changing lanes without signaling while driving on the expressway and VND 23 million for driving with a license plate that did not match the vehicle registration certificate. In addition, V. also had 10 points deducted from his driver’s license.

At the same time, the owner of the KIA Sorento will also be fined VND 23 million for allowing the car with a license plate that does not match the vehicle registration certificate to participate in traffic.

The total fine for this case is VND 51 million.
