Over 50 unique test and concept vehicles are now part of Ford’s Heritage Collection, on display in the US.

Ford is one of the oldest automobile brands in the world. Throughout its rich history of over 120 years, the company has produced numerous iconic models, many of which have become automotive legends. Recently, under the leadership of CEO Jim Farley, Ford selected over 50 significant vehicles to be added to its Heritage Collection, showcased in Dearborn, Michigan. This collection celebrates the brand’s iconic models, supercars, and unique concept vehicles, showcasing Ford’s innovative spirit and rich history.

Among the standout vehicles in the collection is the Ford GT, a symbol of speed and performance for the brand. The Heritage Collection features five 2005 Ford GTs, including three from the first production batch with special serial numbers. Also included is the second-generation Ford GT, known for its lightweight carbon fiber body. However, the showstopper is the Ford GT Mk II, a limited-edition racing version with only 45 units produced, starting at a price of $1.2 million.

When it comes to Ford’s sports cars, the Mustang – a legendary muscle car – cannot be overlooked. One of the most impressive models in the collection is the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R, a high-performance variant of the fourth-generation Mustang. Only 300 of these cars were produced, and they feature a powerful V8 engine delivering 390 horsepower. To maximize performance, the air conditioning, radio, and rear seats have been removed.

The collection also reveals an interesting experiment: a Mustang fitted with a V10 5.8L engine, designed to compete directly with the Dodge Viper. This showcases Ford’s ambition to dominate the sports car segment.

In addition to high-performance vehicles, Ford has also been a pioneer in electric vehicles since its early days. As per their plans, Ford will launch an all-electric Ranger in 2027, following the success of the F-150 Lightning. However, fewer people know that Ford experimented with an electric Ranger back in 1997, marking their first foray into electric vehicles.

The Ford Ranger Lightning Bolt, on the other hand, stands out with its supercharged 5.4L V8 engine borrowed from the F-150 Lightning, producing over 420 horsepower. This transformed the mid-size pickup truck into a true powerhouse.

The Heritage Collection goes beyond commercial vehicles and also includes unique concept cars. The Ford Bronco Concept 2004, which appeared in the movie “Rampage” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, showcases the brand’s efforts to revive this iconic SUV. Similarly, the Ford Airstream Concept 2007 impresses with its hydrogen fuel cell technology and PHEV system, giving a glimpse into Ford’s future vision.

The collection also features concept sedans, such as the Ford 427 Concept 2003, powered by a 7.0L V10 engine made from aluminum alloy, producing over 590 horsepower. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

The Ford Interceptor Concept 2007, with its retro style, inspired the design of the Ford Taurus sedan. However, Ford discontinued the production of all sedans in 2022. The luxury brand Lincoln is also represented in the collection with the Lincoln C Concept 2009, a promising hatchback that never made it to production as Lincoln shifted its focus entirely to SUVs.
