Mazda Unveils First Teaser for All-New Electric SUV, the EZ-60

The video teaser reveals the Mazda EZ-60’s design through wind tunnel simulations, reminiscent of the Arata concept showcased at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

Developed exclusively for the Chinese market to compete with the Tesla Model Y, the EZ-60 may be named the CX-6e in other markets.

As seen in the teaser, this new SUV features a coupe-like design with an elongated tail for improved aerodynamics. Compared to current SUVs like the CX-50, CX-70, and CX-90, the EZ-60 appears sleeker but significantly longer.

The Mazda EZ-60’s cabin is likely to continue the minimalist style of the EZ-6 sedan, showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show in March, with premium accents for a luxurious feel.

Regarding performance, while Mazda hasn’t released official specifications, the EZ-60 is expected to use the EPA1 platform developed by Changan, similar to the EZ-6. This architecture is shared with other electric vehicles like the Deepal SL03 and Deepal S7, indicating that the EZ-60 could offer similar powertrain options, including pure electric and hybrid variants.

If it follows the EZ-6, the EZ-60 may feature two electric powertrain configurations. The first is the standard E-Skyactiv EV, offering 254 horsepower and a 68.8 kWh battery for an estimated range of 480 km. The second is a long-range version with 241 horsepower, an 80 kWh battery, and an estimated range of 550 km.

Additionally, Mazda may introduce a hybrid variant, possibly combining a 1.5L gasoline engine with a smaller battery for backup power when needed.
