Mazda has recently launched its all-new electrified sedan, the Mazda 6e, with production commencing at the Changan Mazda joint venture’s Nanjing plant.

This facility will not only be the birthplace of the Mazda 6e but is also expected to become a strategic export hub for future Mazda electric vehicles, including at least one SUV and two yet-to-be-announced models.

The Mazda 6e is essentially the global version of the EZ-6, which was previously launched exclusively in China last year. Positioned in the mid-size sedan segment, it boasts dimensions of 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,895 mm.

Built on the dedicated EPA platform for electrified vehicles, the Mazda 6e offers two powertrain configurations:

The Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variant features a rear-mounted motor producing 255 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. It offers two battery options: a 56.1 kWh pack delivering a range of 480 km, and a larger 68.8 kWh battery providing an impressive 600 km on a single charge.

The Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) utilizes a 215-hp electric motor paired with a 1.5L gasoline engine serving as a generator. This setup enables a combined range of up to 1,300 km, while the all-electric range varies between 130 and 200 km depending on the configuration.

In international markets, the Mazda 6e will initially be offered with two pure electric variants. The standard model delivers 241 horsepower and a range of 552 km, while the high-end version produces 255 horsepower and offers a range of 479 km.

In China, the vehicle is priced competitively from 139,800 CNY, which roughly translates to 496 million VND. This pricing strategy is notable within the electrified sedan segment.

The Mazda 6e is expected to make its debut in Thailand and several other Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, in the second half of 2025, marking a new chapter in the Japanese brand’s global electrification strategy.
