The Honda 0 SUV Prototype made its public debut at the Japanese Grand Prix with F1 racer Max Verstappen behind the wheel.
At the recent Japanese Grand Prix, Honda unveiled its first electric SUV from the 0 Series to the public. With its unique design, the vehicle captured the attention of all spectators present at the event. The famous racer Max Verstappen, a four-time consecutive F1 champion, was behind the wheel, with his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, in the passenger seat.
The Honda 0 SUV Prototype is one of two electric vehicles from the 0 Series that Honda announced earlier in 2025, alongside a Saloon. This SUV stands out with its distinctive “humpback” rear design, offering a unique look that has also sparked much debate. According to Honda, this prototype is very close to the production version that will be released in 2026, so significant design changes are unlikely.
The Honda 0 SUV Prototype utilizes a dedicated electric vehicle platform, but the company has not yet disclosed details about the battery capacity, range, or engine output. The SUV integrates Level 3 autonomous driving technology, allowing the driver to take their hands off the wheel in certain situations. The ASIMO operating system, inspired by Honda’s famous robot, will serve as the central control unit.
Equipped with advanced sensors and cameras, the vehicle can memorize user habits and observe its surroundings. Notably, Honda states that the SUV can recognize the driver’s emotions and respond accordingly, setting it apart from other vehicles. This model will be manufactured at the EV Hub factory in Ohio, USA.
As per the plan, the Honda 0 SUV Prototype will enter commercial production in mid-2026, followed by the Saloon in 2027. With its bold design and advanced technology, the 0 Series is expected to strengthen Honda’s competitiveness in the global electric vehicle market.
