MG is set to unveil its all-new mid-size pickup truck, the U9, by the end of this year, according to plans.

The first information about this vehicle has just been revealed at the Melbourne Motor Show (Australia) – a strategic market for the MG U9.

MG U9 exudes a masculine design aesthetic with bold, angular lines. From the multi-layered headlights to the large grille, mirror housings, and wheel arches, all elements are defined by decisive straight lines, conveying a sense of strength and robustness.

The front end stands out with its distinctive T-shaped daytime running lights and a prominent grille. The overall design of the U9 bears a resemblance to the Maxus/LDV Terron 9, another vehicle from MG’s parent company.

At launch, the MG U9 will be offered with a 2.5L turbocharged I4 engine producing 220 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. MG assures that the vehicle’s chassis is capable of competent off-road performance, offering a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tons and a payload capacity of 1 ton.

Additionally, MG has confirmed plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant in 2026, promising to provide customers with eco-friendly options.

In the Australian market, the MG U9 is expected to start at around 40,000 AUD (equivalent to over 630 million VND). The vehicle will also come with an impressive 10-year or 250,000 km warranty.
