The Honda ICON e: electric scooter made its debut as the first domestically assembled electric scooter by Honda Vietnam on April 5, 2024. As of April 12, the first six units of the Honda Icon e: have been delivered to their proud owners at Head Honda Thang Loi 1 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Shintaro Taniguchi, Director of Motorcycle Sales for Honda Vietnam, affirmed, “Icon e: is not just a new product but also represents Honda’s commitment to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation in Vietnam.”

On this occasion, Head Thang Loi 1 was also certified as an authorized dealer for Honda Vietnam’s electric scooters. They are one of 132 dealers across 45 provinces and cities selected to distribute these electric vehicles.

Mr. To Huu Vinh, Director of Head Thang Loi 1, shared that Honda has set stringent criteria for selecting qualified dealers for their electric scooter distribution. One of the requirements is for the dealer to be an S-level agency and among the top-performing HEAD dealerships in sales and services. These authorized dealers are not required to commit to sales targets but must meet strict demands regarding display areas, service quality, and customer support for electric vehicle buyers and lessees. Mr. Vinh emphasized the importance of service consultation and safe driving guidance, considering that the target customers for Icon e: are high school students.

The first proud owners of the Honda Icon e:

The Honda Icon e: electric scooter has been a long-awaited release, specifically targeting high school students as its primary customers. As such, Honda Vietnam actively collaborates with the Traffic Police Department to jointly organize specialized training in teaching methods for safe driving skills for traffic police officers. This initiative aims to enhance their capacity to instruct young riders on safe driving practices for electric scooters. Additionally, Honda is introducing a model training program on safe driving skills for high school and vocational education students in several provinces and cities.

Honda’s goal with the Icon e: goes beyond just selling electric scooters to students. They also aim to fulfill their social responsibility by contributing to the students’ understanding of traffic laws and improving their driving skills, thereby ensuring safer participation in road traffic on electric scooters.

The Honda Icon e: is available in three versions: Premium (26.9 million VND), Special (27.1 million VND), and Sports (27.3 million VND). The prices include the charger but exclude the battery. The battery rental package is priced at 350,000 VND per month, with unlimited mileage. The scooter comes with a three-year warranty, with no distance limitations.

The Honda ICON e: electric scooter can travel up to 71 kilometers on a full charge from 0-100% in eight hours and reaches a maximum speed of 48 km/h. These specifications make it suitable for high school students who typically commute over short distances.

Immediately following its launch, the Icon e: garnered significant attention from consumers, particularly young individuals and students in major cities. Its modern and trendy design, coupled with Honda’s trusted and reliable brand reputation, has driven the interest and appeal of this electric scooter.
