According to Carscoops, Mazda’s intense focus on its SUV lineup has left the low-slung Mazda3 somewhat neglected. The Mazda3 was introduced in 2018 and has not received any updates since.
As a result, independent studios like Digimods Design and MV Auto have taken it upon themselves to create renderings of an updated Mazda3, incorporating design elements from the Japanese automaker’s recently launched vehicles.
Digimods Design, in particular, has envisioned the Mazda3 sedan variant with a front end inspired by the images of the new Mazda CX-5. In their rendering, the compact sedan boasts sharp LED headlights surrounding the grille, air intakes, and vents combined with a sporty front bumper and a sculpted hood.

The overall shape and wheelbase of the Mazda3 remain unchanged from the current version. Digimods Design has also made some modifications to the sedan’s door design, which Carscoops believes gives it a more modern look while retaining its familiar design language.
The rear combination lamps are thinner and borrowed from Mazda’s SUV lineup, but this particular design is thought to detract from the Mazda3’s inherent aesthetics.
Meanwhile, MV Auto shared their rendering of the Mazda3 hatchback variant, inspired by the design of the Mazda 6e/EZ-6 electric sedan.

While Mazda has not shared any information about an updated Mazda3, Carscoops hopes that the Japanese automaker will soon introduce a facelift for this compact sedan.
With the discontinuation of the Mazda6 in many markets, the Mazda3 is now the brand’s only sedan with an internal combustion engine and one of the few “non-SUV” models in their lineup, alongside the MX-5.
Carscoops speculates that the Mazda3 facelift will continue to use a front-wheel-drive platform and offer a self-charging hybrid powertrain option. It is also highly likely that the Mazda3 will be equipped with Mazda’s new Skyactiv-Z gasoline engine, expected to debut in 2027.
