According to VNR representatives, the special Reunification Express train designed for the upcoming 30th of April celebrations has sold out, with no spare seats available for additional passengers.
As of the 17th of April, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has sold over 76,000 tickets, accounting for 60% of the total tickets supplied for the 30th of April to 1st of May holiday period.
Travelers are primarily choosing to depart on the 29th and 30th of April from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to various tourist destinations, with return trips scheduled for the opposite direction on the 2nd to 4th of May.
To meet the transportation needs of passengers during this holiday period, the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route will maintain 5 pairs of Reunification Express trains daily: SE1/2, SE3/4, SE5/6, SE7/8, and SE11/12. Additionally, sectional trains such as SE19/20 (Hanoi – Danang), SE22/21 (Saigon – Danang), SNT2/1 (Saigon – Nha Trang), SPT2/1 (Saigon – Phan Thiet), the Central Heritage Connector train HĐ1/2/3/4 (Hue – Danang), and NA1/2 (Hanoi – Vinh) will also be in operation.
For the Hanoi – Hai Phong route, 5 additional trips will be scheduled on top of the regular daily trips. A total of 32 extra trips will be added for routes like Hanoi – Vinh, Hanoi – Danang, Saigon – Nha Trang, and others to accommodate travelers during this period.
The special train commemorating the 50th anniversary of the country’s reunification has sold out.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of Vietnam, VNR will operate a specially designed Reunification Express train for the 30th of April celebrations, featuring unique elements that honor this historic event.
According to the schedule, on the evening of April 29, train SE1 will depart from Hanoi station, while train SE4 will depart from Saigon station. The two trains will meet at Danang station at noon on April 30th. During the farewell ceremony for the departing trains, the railway industry will collaborate with partners to prepare surprise gifts for passengers on these two trains.
When purchasing train tickets, passengers have the opportunity to participate in creating a virtual Reunification Express train. For every successful booking, a golden star flag will be displayed on the ticketing system.
Notably, the VNR representative mentioned that the specially designed Reunification Express train has sold out, and no additional seats are available for latecomers.
In commemoration of the 30th of April, the day of Southern liberation and national reunification, the railway industry is offering a 40% discount to individuals with revolutionary contributions, such as wounded soldiers, disabled soldiers, former soldiers, and family members of those with revolutionary contributions, from April 24 to May 9. Tickets will be sold directly at the railway stations, and eligible passengers must present valid identification documents when purchasing tickets and boarding the train.
The railway industry notes that while the first and last days of the holiday period are expected to be busy, there are still many vacant seats available for other travel dates during the holiday period.
It is anticipated that the number of passengers purchasing train tickets will continue to increase as the holiday approaches, especially for sectional and short-distance trips. Therefore, passengers are advised to pack their luggage efficiently, take note of train schedules, and arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure to avoid missing their train.
