A private motorcycle dealer in Can Tho has recently attracted attention by importing the Honda Dash 125 from Malaysia to Vietnam, retailing at a price of over 80 million VND.

This price is on par with high-end scooter models such as the Honda SH or the iconic Super Cub C125. Many people are curious as to why a common numbered bike commands such a high price tag.

In Malaysia, the Honda Dash 125 is positioned as a standard numbered bike, a step above the Wave Alpha, with a price of approximately 6,599 RM (equivalent to 38.8 million VND). However, when imported to Vietnam through private channels, the price doubles due to transportation costs, taxes, and scarcity.

The Honda Dash 125 boasts dimensions of 1,894 x 707 x 1,108 mm, similar to the RSX 110, but with a slightly higher weight of 105 kg compared to 98 kg. The seat height of 767 mm is well-suited to the Vietnamese physique.

In terms of design, the Dash 125 sports a bold and sporty look, reminiscent of the Wave RSX 110 sold in Vietnam from 2012 to 2014. However, it has a more modern and angular appearance thanks to the “Accent Line” design language. Sharp creases along the body and a sculpted front end make the Dash 125 stand out from the softer-styled numbered bikes available domestically.

Not only does the Honda Dash 125 excel in design, but it also impresses with its rare features for a standard numbered bike in Vietnam. Specifically, it is equipped with LED headlights for better illumination and disc brakes on both wheels, which is almost unheard of for numbered Honda bikes sold in Vietnam.

The reason for this lies in Malaysia’s higher safety standards, which include the common use of disc brakes even on standard models. However, the Dash 125 does not come with ABS, which is a notable omission considering its price in Vietnam.

Other notable features of the bike include: 17-inch alloy wheels, tubeless tires, separate turn signals to comply with Malaysian size regulations, telescopic front forks, and dual rear shocks. The bike uses a conventional key and analog instrument cluster.

The Dash 125’s “heart” is a single-cylinder 125cc engine, SOHC, PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection, and air-cooled. The engine produces 9.9 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 9.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 4-speed transmission.

The biggest advantage of this engine is its fuel efficiency, consuming only 1.8 liters per 100 km, making it very economical for daily commutes. Additionally, the engine meets EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) emission standards, equivalent to Malaysia’s “super clean” standards.

With a price of over 80 million VND, the Honda Dash 125 far surpasses domestically assembled numbered bikes and even rivals high-end scooter models such as the Honda SH125i (priced from 74 million VND) and the Super Cub C125 (approximately 86 million VND).
