A $450,000 Ferrari 296 GTS hybrid convertible supercar was badly damaged in an accident in Emmen, the Netherlands, just one week after its registration.

The incident caused regret in the car enthusiast community, as the supercar is almost beyond recovery.

According to the shared images from the scene, the Ferrari lost control and mounted the curb, coming to a stop after colliding with a large tree. The body was torn in several places, the airbags were deployed, and the front of the car was almost completely deformed. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The Ferrari 296 GTS is the convertible version of the 296 GTB, featuring a 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor, producing a total output of 830 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h, making it a true “land missile.” However, such power also means that the driver needs superior driving skills.

The car involved in the accident is believed to have been driven for less than a week. Despite having advanced steering systems and flexible operation modes for electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engines, controlling a high-performance machine like the Ferrari 296 GTS is not easy, especially in urban road conditions.

In the Dutch market, the Ferrari 296 GTS is priced at around 400,000 Euros (~10.68 billion VND), excluding repair costs in case of a severe accident. With the current damage, the restoration or replacement cost is substantial and may even lead the owner to consider a complete replacement.

This accident once again demonstrates that, with high-speed supercars, driving skills and safety awareness remain paramount, regardless of the car’s price tag.
