The Vietnam Tax Authority has announced that several e-tax services, including iCanhan, eTax Mobile, and eTax, will be temporarily suspended from March 12, 5:00 PM, to March 17, 8:00 AM. This decision is in line with the National Assembly and Government’s plan for reorganization and restructuring.

During this period, car buyers can still pay the registration fee either through the postal service or directly at the tax agency. However, there will be delays in receiving the results. The suspension of electronic tax payment also means that car buyers cannot make electronic pre-registration fee payments, nor can they register their license plates during this time.

To register for a license plate, vehicle owners must complete the administrative procedures, pay the full pre-registration fee, and present the file code at the Police Department, as per regulations. The current pre-registration fee for cars with fewer than nine seats and pickup trucks is 10-12%, depending on the locality. According to Decree No. 51, electric cars running on batteries will continue to be exempt from the pre-registration fee, with a 0% rate, from March 1, 2025, to February 28, 2027.
