At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Changan Mazda Joint Venture officially introduced the new all-electric SUV, the Mazda EZ-60. This marks the second product in the brand’s electrification lineup, following the EZ-6 sedan launched in October 2024.
Mazda EZ-60 has an overall length of 4,850 mm, a width of 1,935 mm, a height of 1,620 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,902 mm. The approach and departure angles are 16 and 20 degrees, respectively, suitable for multi-terrain use. The car has a coupe-like silhouette similar to the CX-30, while its overall dimensions are slightly smaller than the CX-8.
The Mazda EZ-60 boasts an exterior design that embodies the distinctive characteristics of the Japanese brand, with a resemblance to SUVs such as the Mazda CX-60. However, modern elements have been incorporated to enhance its identity, including ultra-slim LED daytime running lights and a camera system that replaces traditional side mirrors.
A standout feature in the Mazda EZ-60‘s cabin is the massive 25.6-inch center screen with 5K resolution. Additionally, it is equipped with a large 100-inch heads-up display, providing a high-tech experience for the driver.
In total, the cabin features six screens, including screens on the dashboard that replace the side mirrors and a dedicated screen for rear passengers. However, a downside is the complete removal of physical buttons, which may impact the traditional driving experience.
Other convenience features include heated and ventilated front and rear seats, a 23-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, 20 storage compartments, and a standard cargo capacity of 350 liters, expandable to 2,036 liters with the rear seats folded.
While the design bears the Mazda signature style, the technical foundation and powertrain are mainly from its Chinese partner, Changan. The Mazda EZ-60 utilizes a Changan-exclusive platform and offers two drivetrain configurations: hybrid and all-electric.
Although detailed specifications have not been officially released, data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates that the all-electric version has a maximum range of 600 km, while the hybrid version can achieve up to 1,000 km.
According to MIIT, the hybrid version employs a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine that functions as a generator, charging a 31.7 kWh battery pack. The main electric motor, located at the rear axle, produces 255 horsepower. Notably, the hybrid version can operate in pure electric mode with a range of up to 160 km, surpassing many current hybrid models.
As per the plan, the Mazda EZ-60 will be produced in China from the second half of 2025. It is expected to be distributed in international markets under the name Mazda CX-6e, starting from the end of this year.
