The Vietnamese automotive market in early 2025 witnessed a wave of Chinese cars entering the market. Despite their attractive designs and early bird incentives, most of these models failed to create a strong impact, forcing manufacturers to quickly adjust their pricing strategies to attract buyers.
Geely Coolray: Generous incentives offered right after its launch
Introduced in late March, the Geely Coolray is positioned in the B-segment SUV category with three variants: Standard (VND 538 million), Premium (VND 578 million), and Flagship (VND 628 million). All versions are powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, producing 177 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Starting in April, this model was offered with a 50% discount on registration fees, bringing the effective selling price down to around VND 511-596 million, a very competitive range within the B-segment SUV market.
Jaecoo J7 PHEV: Price adjustment just three months after its launch
In January 2025, the Jaecoo J7 was introduced in Vietnam with two configurations: a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine (183 horsepower, 275 Nm of torque) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version that combines a 1.5L gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque, with an all-electric range of approximately 88 km.
At launch, the promotional prices were VND 729 million and VND 919 million, respectively. Currently, the gasoline version no longer has any incentives, while the PHEV version’s list price has been reduced to VND 969 million (a decrease of VND 30 million). Additionally, the company is offering a 10-year free fuel incentive worth VND 90 million, effectively bringing the final price down to VND 879 million for a limited number of units.
This move comes shortly after the introduction of the BYD Sealion 6, a direct competitor in the C-segment SUV market, which offers two PHEV variants starting at VND 799 million.
Haval Jolion: Early price reduction to compete in the urban SUV segment
The Haval Jolion officially went on sale in Vietnam in March 2025, with two variants: Pro and Ultra, starting at VND 669 million and VND 719 million, respectively. This B-segment SUV is equipped with a 1.5L hybrid powertrain that combines a naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 190 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque, paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.
At the GWM Hanoi dealership, the Jolion Pro is currently offered with a direct discount of VND 30 million, while the Ultra version comes with a 50% registration fee support, equivalent to VND 36 million. After the incentives, the actual selling prices range from VND 639 million to VND 683 million.
Additionally, the C-segment hybrid SUV, Haval H6 HEV, powered by a 1.5L turbocharged engine and an electric motor (combined output of 243 horsepower), has also seen a significant price drop. From its original list price of VND 1,096 billion, the H6 HEV is now available for approximately VND 750 million, a reduction of nearly VND 350 million.
MG G50: MPV receives a slight price cut shortly after its launch
Entering the market in early April 2025, the MG G50 is a 7-seater MPV equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine, delivering 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Just a month after its launch, all three variants of the MG G50 have seen price reductions ranging from VND 20 million to VND 25 million at dealerships. Specifically, the 1.5 MT Com version is now priced at VND 539 million (a reduction of VND 20 million), the 1.5 AT Del is offered at VND 673 million, and the top-of-the-line 1.5 AT Lux is available for VND 724 million (both reduced by VND 25 million).
