The Mazda EZ-60: A Shanghai Auto Show 2025 Exclusive

The Mazda EZ-60 has an overall length of 4,850 mm, a width of 1,935 mm, a height of 1,620 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,902 mm. With approach and departure angles of 16 and 20 degrees respectively, it is well-suited for diverse terrain. The car’s coupe-like silhouette resembles that of the CX-30, while its overall dimensions are slightly smaller than the CX-8.

The Mazda EZ-60 boasts an exterior design that embodies the distinctive characteristics of the Japanese brand, with similarities to SUVs such as the Mazda CX-60. However, modern elements have been incorporated to enhance its visual identity, including ultra-slim LED daytime running lights and side-view cameras that replace traditional side mirrors.

A standout feature in the cabin of the Mazda EZ-60 is the massive 25.6-inch center screen with 5K resolution. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a 100-inch HUD (heads-up display) that projects information onto the windshield, offering a high-tech driving experience.

In total, the cabin accommodates six screens, including screens on the sides of the dashboard that replace traditional side mirrors and a dedicated screen for rear passengers. However, the complete removal of physical buttons may impact the traditional driving experience.

Other convenience features include heated and cooled front and rear seats, a 23-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, 20 storage compartments, and a cargo area with a standard capacity of 350 liters that can be expanded to 2,036 liters by folding down the rear seats.

While the design bears Mazda’s signature style, the technical foundation and powertrain are predominantly contributed by its Chinese partner, Changan. The Mazda EZ-60 utilizes a Changan-exclusive platform and offers two powertrain configurations: hybrid and all-electric.

Although detailed specifications have not been officially released, data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates that the all-electric version has a maximum range of 600 kilometers, while the hybrid version can achieve up to 1,000 kilometers.

According to MIIT, the hybrid model employs a 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine that functions as a generator, charging a 31.7 kWh battery pack. The primary electric motor, located at the rear axle, delivers 255 horsepower. Notably, the hybrid version can operate in pure electric mode with a range of up to 160 kilometers, surpassing many current hybrid models.

The Mazda EZ-60 is scheduled to be produced in China from the second half of 2025. It is expected to be marketed internationally under the name Mazda CX-6e, starting from the end of this year.
