While the name “GT” might evoke visions of powerful luxury coupes like the Bentley Continental GT, Honda’s new duo may not get your adrenaline pumping in the same way. But if you’re intrigued by the idea of affordable, family-oriented electric vehicles with sporty designs and an abundance of screens, you’ll find these two new Honda models unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025 intriguing.

Both of Honda’s new offerings bear the GT name but are sold by two different joint ventures. The red one is from GAC-Honda, while the blue version is marketed by Dongfeng-Honda. Essentially, they are the same car. They are manufactured in the same factory in China and are currently exclusive to the Chinese market.

The Honda GT duo made their debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.

Both vehicles feature the “H” logo beneath their black hoods and the “Honda” lettering on the front doors. However, Dongfeng-Honda opted for LED daytime running lights and taillights in the shape of the letter “Y,” reminiscent of the Lamborghini Revuelto. In contrast, GAC-Honda went with a two-tier LED setup at the front and retained a simpler taillight design.

Additionally, Honda’s new electric vehicles feature digital cameras instead of traditional side mirrors, resulting in two small screens on the inside of the doors displaying the camera footage. These are just two of the six screens incorporated into the high-tech interior of the Honda GT.

The Honda GT’s interior boasts a total of six screens.

The remaining four screens in the car include a digital instrument cluster mounted high on the dashboard, a traditional central touchscreen, a smaller screen below it (possibly for climate control), and a large screen for the front passenger. The front passenger’s screen is notably larger and bulkier than most others we’ve seen.

Currently, the two Honda GT models are only concepts and have not entered mass production. They belong to the second wave of Honda’s Ye electric vehicle line, designed specifically for the Chinese market.

Although Honda hasn’t disclosed engine specifications, we can make educated guesses based on the first Ye models, the S7 and P7. In the Chinese market, both the S7 and P7 are offered with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options. The RWD version is equipped with a single electric motor producing 268 horsepower, while the AWD variant boasts a combined output of 469 horsepower.

According to some Chinese media sources, the Honda GT will also be available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The single-motor version is said to have a 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles.

The release date and pricing for the Honda GT in the Chinese market remain unknown at this time.
