At the 2025 Chery International Business Conference, the Chinese automaker surprised everyone by revealing a sneak peek of what is believed to be the next-generation Jaecoo J7.
The design of this upcoming model closely resembles a sketch that Chery had previously shared internally before the conference (photography of which was prohibited). At that time, the company also conducted a survey, presenting two design options for the model with the internal code T1EJ. One of these designs showcased a Range Rover-inspired look, similar to what was seen on the conference stage, while the other leaned towards a Jeep-like style.
Despite the fact that the Range Rover-esque design was publicly displayed during the conference, it is still speculative whether this will be the official direction for the new Jaecoo J7. Chery has not provided any confirmation or further details as of yet.
When compared to the current J7, the new sketch retains prominent character lines on the wheel arches and hidden door handles. However, the roofline appears less sloped, and the front end has been completely redesigned, featuring a horizontal daytime running light bar that “sandwiches” the main headlight cluster.
At the rear, the vehicle showcases sleek taillights that are connected by a decorative strip, creating a modern, seamless effect.
The launch date for the new Jaecoo J7 remains undisclosed. Given that the current version of the J7 is relatively new, having just made its global debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, it is likely that the release of the new model is still some time away.
As such, the final design of the new Jaecoo J7 may still undergo adjustments during the development phase.
