Unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the second-generation Hongqi H9 immediately drew attention for its elegant design and modern technology. This is an entirely new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, expected to go on sale from the third quarter of this year, although specific pricing and specifications are still being kept under wraps.

Hongqi continues to elevate its design language with the new-generation H9. The impressive “waterfall” grille is now painted the same color as the body, integrating a front camera and a chrome trim that connects to the LED daytime running lights – a detail that creates a distinct technological accent compared to the previous version.

The brand’s iconic “red flag” pattern is subtly extended to the middle of the hood. Meanwhile, the “lantern” style taillights are made softer, without the horizontal LED strip connecting the taillights as before, giving the rear end a more elegant and lightweight feel.

Although the brand has not disclosed the exact dimensions of the new model, the previous H9 boasted impressive figures of 5,337 x 1,904 x 1,493 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,290 mm – making it one of the largest in the full-size sedan segment.

The new H9 features eye-catching 20-inch multi-spoke chrome-plated alloy wheels, paired with Michelin e.Primacy tires in the size 255/45 R20. The “red flag” logo continues to be placed subtly on both sides of the body, now integrated with a surveillance camera.

The interior blends class and technology seamlessly. The new design is more minimalistic, eliminating unnecessary details and instead focusing on premium wood and leather surfaces. The infotainment system includes a digital instrument cluster, a large central screen, and a secondary screen for rear passengers.

The “zero-gravity” seats with slow-rebound shock absorption provide maximum relaxation. Additionally, the car is equipped with high-quality anti-fatigue screens, along with a temperature and oxygen monitoring system in the cabin, optimizing the user experience on every journey.

Unlike the previous generation, which used a mild-hybrid system, the new Hongqi H9 comes standard with a plug-in hybrid 2.0L turbocharged engine. While specific details have not been revealed, the brand confirms that the car uses an air suspension system and electronic steering, optimizing the driving experience for smoothness and precision.

Furthermore, this flagship sedan integrates a Level 3 autonomous driving system with the Sinan 1000 controller, supported by multiple sensors and Lidar sensors at the front – preparing the vehicle for future journeys.

Hongqi H9 PHEV will officially go on sale in the second half of 2025. While the pricing and number of versions have not been announced, with significant upgrades in both design and technology, this model promises to remain Hongqi’s “ace card” in the luxury sedan segment. In Vietnam, the first-generation H9 is currently being distributed officially, with prices ranging from 1.5 to 2.7 billion VND.
