Earlier this February, Vietnamese entrepreneur Nguyen Quoc Cuong, commonly known as Cuong “Dollar”, swiftly purchased a sports car – the manual transmission Toyota 86. The vehicle had only been driven for 680 miles and was sold just under an hour after being advertised, quickly capturing the interest of JDM car enthusiasts.

Three months later, Cuong “Dollar” has spent hundreds of millions of dong to upgrade the Toyota 86 with various accessories to enhance the driving experience. It seems that any car that Cuong “Dollar” touches turns into a perfect machine.

Specifically, after a special care package for the exterior and interior, as well as an engine bay cleaning that made the car look brand new, the accessories were installed. First was the 18-inch Rays TE37 S-Plus wheels with a single, large-spoke design and a copper-colored finish, giving the Toyota 86’s stance a more robust look. This was paired with the GRMN 6-piston – GR Master Nurburgring Limited Edition brakes, a perfect match for this car.

Next came the Ohlins Road & Track suspension and finally, the Tomei titanium exhaust system (including titanium headers) that gives the car an impressive roar when accelerating. Under the hood, a carbon fiber engine cover from Armaspeed was also added.

Inspired by the legendary Toyota 2000GT, the Toyota 86 sports a fastback 2+2 style with dimensions of 4,240 x 1,775 x 1,320 mm and a wheelbase of 2,570 mm.

The mid-life upgrade for the Toyota 86 includes minor design tweaks such as the front bumper, rear diffuser, and changes to the headlight and taillight designs. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels that feature a 10-spoke design contrasting Gun Metal Grey and bright chrome finishes.

At the heart of the Toyota 86 is the FA20 I4 direct-injection engine with a displacement of 2.0 liters, producing 204 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 212 Nm at 6,400 – 6,800 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
