The Trump administration’s new import tariff policy could significantly impact Subaru car prices in the US. In a letter to dealers, Subaru of America’s Vice President, Lisa Quan, warned of price increases for its vehicles starting April.
“There are no guarantees that prices will remain the same, and they are subject to change after April 2nd,” said Lisa Quan.
The new import tariffs are expected to come into effect at the beginning of April. However, President Donald Trump is known for his unpredictable decision-making, having previously delayed tariffs targeting Canada and Mexico. Therefore, it is unclear whether this new 25% tax will indeed be imposed.

While Subaru operates a plant in Indiana, USA, producing models like the Crosstrek, Outback, and Ascent, its two best-selling vehicles in the US, the BRZ and Solterra, are manufactured overseas.
The Solterra, currently priced at approximately $38,495, could see a price increase of almost $9,700 if the new tariffs are implemented.
Subaru is not alone in feeling the impact of these import tariffs. BMW, for instance, has already notified its dealers across the US about price increases for models imported from Mexico, showcasing the far-reaching consequences of this tax policy.
