As reported, the Vietnamese automotive market experienced a decline in sales during April 2025. This slowdown was not isolated to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) but also impacted Hyundai Thanh Cong and VinFast. As a result, there was a notable shake-up in the ranking of the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam for that month.

Top 10 Best-selling Cars in Vietnam in April 2025 (unit: cars)

According to the data, the VinFast VF 5 electric car maintained its top position in the market in terms of sales for April. This model also dominated the market in March 2025. VinFast VF 5’s sales reached 3,731 units in April, a 15.2% decrease. This brings the cumulative sales of VF 5 in the first four months of the year to 14,431 units.

Ranking second in the top 10 was the VinFast VF 3, with 2,378 units sold, a 35.7% decrease. However, when considering cumulative sales from the beginning of the year, the VF 3 slightly outperforms its sibling, the VF 5, with 15,278 units sold.

The third position in the top 10 went to the VinFast VF 6, a compact SUV. With 1,763 units sold, this model witnessed a remarkable 60.2% growth. As a result, the VF 6 currently leads the market in the compact SUV segment in Vietnam.

Securing the fourth position was the Mazda CX-5, which achieved a 28.8% growth with 1,416 units sold. Thus, the Mazda CX-5 emerged as the best-selling car with a gasoline or diesel engine in Vietnam. Previously, this position was typically held by the Mitsubishi Xpander or Ford Ranger.

The second best-selling gasoline or diesel car in Vietnam for April 2025 was the Ford Ranger. This pickup truck sold 1,366 units, an 11% decline. Despite the decrease, the Ford Ranger maintained a significant lead over its competitors in the same segment.

Another Ford model, the Everest, also made it into the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam for April 2025. This mid-size SUV recorded sales of 1,090 units, a slight increase of 1.4%. Once again, the Ford Everest secured the top position in its segment, the mid-size SUV category, in terms of sales.

The only Toyota model in this top 10 list was the Yaris Cross. This compact SUV from Toyota sold 1,080 units in April, an 8.8% decrease. Within the compact SUV segment, the Toyota Yaris Cross ranked second, just behind the VinFast VF 6. However, it maintained its position as the best-selling compact SUV with a gasoline or diesel engine in Vietnam.

Right behind the Toyota Yaris Cross was its direct competitor, the Hyundai Creta. With 1,059 units sold, the Hyundai Creta witnessed an impressive 122.4% growth. As a result, it overtook the Accent to become the best-selling Hyundai model in Vietnam for April 2025.

The Mitsubishi Xpander was the model that caused the biggest surprise in the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam for April 2025. This small MPV slipped to the ninth position with only 972 units sold, a significant 61.5% decrease. Nonetheless, the Mitsubishi Xpander remained the best-selling MPV in the Vietnamese market during that month.

In April 2025, Honda had one model in the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam—the Honda City. With 957 units sold, this subcompact sedan achieved a remarkable 38.6% growth. As a result, the Honda City overtook both the Hyundai Accent and the Toyota Vios to become the leading model in the subcompact sedan segment.
