Despite a dip in Vietnam’s car sales during April 2025, some C-segment SUV models experienced growth in their sales figures. Notably, the Mazda CX-5 maintained its position as the best-selling model in its class.

C-segment SUV Sales for Apr 2025 (units: vehicles)
Mazda CX-5: 1,416 units
In April 2025, the Mazda CX-5 remained the top choice for Vietnamese consumers in the C-segment SUV market. This Japanese model sold 1,416 units, a growth of 28.8%. It was the SUV with the highest growth rate in its class.
Mazda CX-5
With these results, the Mazda CX-5 not only topped the C-segment SUV rankings but also became the best-selling gasoline and diesel car in the Vietnamese market, surpassing the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Xpander. This achievement can be attributed to the attractive promotions offered by both the manufacturer and dealers during April.
Several dealers advertised the 2024 (VIN 2024) Mazda CX-5 with prices ranging from 694 to 814 million VND, depending on the version. Meanwhile, the 2025 (VIN 2025) Mazda CX-5 also had a discount program, with prices ranging from 714 to 839 million VND. This was the first time that the Mazda CX-5 was offered at a promotional price below 700 million VND.
In addition to its attractive listed price, starting from 749 to 979 million VND, the Mazda CX-5 also appeals to customers with its design that suits Vietnamese tastes, as well as its comprehensive convenience and safety features. Under the hood, this model offers two gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0L and 2.5L. These engines produce 154 hp/200 Nm and 188 hp/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD).
Ford Territory: 945 units
Ranking second in the C-segment SUV market for April 2025 was the Ford Territory, replacing the Hyundai Tucson. The American model sold 945 units, a slight growth of 1.5%.
Ford Territory
In May 2025, Ford is offering a 100% discount on registration fees for all four versions of the Territory, allowing customers to save between 76 and 89 million VND. This program is expected to help the Ford Territory maintain its momentum.
Similar to the Mazda CX-5, the Ford Territory also has a wallet-friendly price range of 759 to 889 million VND. Additionally, it impresses with its eye-catching design, spacious interior, and well-equipped convenience and safety features.
The Ford Territory in Vietnam is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 160 hp and 248 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
This year, an upgraded version of the Ford Territory will be introduced in Vietnam. In recent months, the new version of this C-segment SUV has been spotted on Vietnamese roads.
Hyundai Tucson: 506 units
In contrast to the above two models, the Hyundai Tucson experienced a significant drop in sales. This Korean model sold 506 units, a decrease of 51.6%. As a result, it fell to third place in the C-segment SUV rankings.
Hyundai Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson stands out with its reasonable price range of 769 to 979 million VND, distinctive design, spacious interior thanks to its class-leading wheelbase, and abundant convenience and safety features. It also offers a diverse range of engine options.
The Hyundai Tucson in Vietnam is currently available with three engine choices: the Smartstream 2.0L MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines produce 156 hp/192 Nm, 186 hp/416 Nm, and 180 hp/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Honda CR-V: 433 units
April 2025 was not a successful month for the Honda CR-V, with sales of only 433 units, a decrease of 8.4% compared to the previous month. One reason for this decline was the discontinuation of registration fee incentives for the CR-V in April 2025.
Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V has one of the highest price ranges in its class, from 1.029 to 1.259 billion VND. However, it makes up for this with its attractive design and features. Notably, it is one of the few models in the segment to offer a hybrid engine option for better fuel efficiency.
Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 hp, combined with two electric motors with a total output of 181 hp. Together, they deliver a total system output of 204 hp and 335 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the other three versions of the Honda CR-V are powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 188 hp and 240 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage: 184 units
Following the Honda CR-V is the Kia Sportage, with sales of 184 units, a decrease of 7%.
Kia Sportage
The Kia Sportage is currently available in Vietnam with six versions, priced from 819 to 999 million VND. Compared to its launch in 2022, it now has fewer versions and more competitive pricing. However, the initial high pricing, along with a design that may not appeal to the masses, has impacted the sales of this model.
In terms of powertrain, the Kia Sportage is identical to the Hyundai Tucson, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.
Mitsubishi Outlander: 48 units
Ranking last in the C-segment SUV sales for April 2025 was the Mitsubishi Outlander, with only 48 units sold, a decrease of 52.4%. This is not surprising, as the Outlander did not have any manufacturer promotions in April 2025, unlike the previous extended period.
Mitsubishi Outlander
The Mitsubishi Outlander has a price range of 825 to 950 million VND for its two versions. Its uncompetitive pricing, along with the fact that it has not received any design or feature upgrades in a long time, has kept its sales figures consistently low.
The Mitsubishi Outlander in Vietnam is powered by a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 145 hp and 196 Nm of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
