Earlier this March, Vietnam’s first limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar embarked on an adventurous journey to China by its owner. According to him, this trip had no fixed schedule or destinations; it was a free-flowing exploration until his visa expired.

After two months and five days, the Porsche 911 Dakar sports car returned to Vietnam through the Tay Trang international border gate in Na U, Dien Bien District, Dien Bien Province. The owner then drove over 1,000 km to reach Da Nang for a well-deserved rest and will soon head back to Ho Chi Minh City.

One of the key strengths of the Porsche 911 Dakar, which greatly aided the owner from Haiphong in navigating diverse terrains, is its increased ground clearance of 50 mm compared to the standard model.

Additionally, the Porsche 911 Dakar can further raise its ground clearance by 30 mm in the High-Level mode. This off-road setting, activated via a knob on the steering wheel, enables the car to glide over speed bumps and potholes without scraping its underbelly.

When the first Porsche 911 Dakar arrived in Vietnam, it sported a new livery with red and yellow accents on the original GT Silver Metallic paint job. The numbers ’19’ were also added to both sides of the car and the front trunk lid, signifying the owner’s birth date.

This particular Porsche 911 Dakar bears the serial number 1,904 out of the 2,500 units produced globally. The number ’19’ represents the owner’s birthday, with ’04’ being the birth month.

The Porsche 911 Dakar is a limited-edition model, with only 2,560 units manufactured worldwide. Of these, four have made their way to Vietnam. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo engine, it generates 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque.

Coupled with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering, the Porsche 911 Dakar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.
