MPV Sales in April 2025 (units)

Mitsubishi Xpander: 972 units

In April 2025, Mitsubishi sold 972 Xpander units in Vietnam, a significant drop of 61.5% compared to the previous month. This is a rare occasion where the sales of this popular MPV model failed to surpass the 1,000-unit mark. Despite this setback, the Mitsubishi Xpander still leads the MPV segment by a considerable margin.

Mitsubishi Xpander

In May 2025, Mitsubishi continues to offer attractive incentives for the Xpander. The company is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for all variants, ranging from VND 28 million to VND 35 million. Additionally, customers will receive a free rearview camera worth VND 2.5 million for the MT version, a VND 10 million fuel voucher for the AT version, or a 360-degree panoramic camera worth VND 20 million for the AT Premium and Cross versions.

Mitsubishi Xpander has consistently offered promotions over the past year, coupled with affordable pricing starting from VND 560 million to VND 698 million. Its eye-catching design, spacious 7-seat interior, and adequate features make it a compelling choice for buyers.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Xpander is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a front-wheel drive system and either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

Toyota Innova Cross: 744 units

The Toyota Innova Cross witnessed the highest growth rate in the MPV segment in April 2025, with sales of 744 units, representing a remarkable 50.6% increase. This surge propelled the Innova Cross to the second position within the segment.

Toyota Innova Cross

The Toyota Innova Cross is priced from VND 825 million for the gasoline version and VND 1.013 billion for the hybrid version. While not the most affordable option, the Innova Cross impresses with its rugged SUV-like design, spacious interior, and comprehensive standard equipment.

The Innova Cross offers two powertrain options: a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 172 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque, paired with a Direct Shift CVT transmission; and a hybrid system comprising a 150-horsepower gasoline engine, an 111-horsepower electric motor, and a CVT transmission.

Toyota Veloz Cross: 601 units

Unlike its sibling, the Toyota Veloz Cross experienced a slight dip in sales, with 601 units sold, representing a 2.5% decrease. Nonetheless, it maintained its position as the third best-selling MPV in Vietnam.

Toyota Veloz Cross

In May 2025, Toyota is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for the Veloz Cross, amounting to VND 32-33 million. Additionally, customers will receive a one-year physical damage insurance policy and enjoy a preferential interest rate of 5.99%.

The success of the Veloz Cross can be attributed to its attractive promotions, competitive pricing starting from VND 638 million to VND 660 million, eye-catching MPV-SUV crossover design, and comprehensive convenience and safety features.

The Veloz Cross is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that generates 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

Kia Carnival: 382 units

The Kia Carnival retained its position as the fourth best-selling MPV in Vietnam, with sales of 382 units, reflecting a 31.2% decrease.

Kia Carnival

In May 2025, Kia continues to offer a VND 50 million discount on the top-of-the-line 1.6 Turbo Hybrid Signature variant, reducing its price to VND 1.799 billion. All other variants of the Carnival come with a one-year physical damage insurance policy.

Despite its premium price range of VND 1.299 billion to VND 1.849 billion, the Kia Carnival maintains a steady customer base thanks to its striking design, spacious interior, and impressive features. Notably, it is one of the few MPVs in the segment to offer a hybrid powertrain.

The hybrid powertrain of the Kia Carnival combines a 1.6L 4-cylinder turbocharged SmartStream engine, an electric motor, a lithium-ion polymer battery, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers a total output of 242 horsepower while achieving impressive fuel efficiency, consuming just 4.95 liters per 100 kilometers.

Alternatively, the Carnival is also offered with a 2.2L 4-cylinder DOHC diesel engine that produces 199 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

Hyundai Stargazer: 333 units

The Hyundai Stargazer, another Korean MPV, trailed closely behind the Kia Carnival, with sales of 333 units, reflecting a 16% increase. This growth can be partially attributed to the manufacturer’s discounts on the 1.5 AT Standard, 1.5 AT, and 1.5 AT Luxury variants produced in 2024.

Hyundai Stargazer

The Hyundai Stargazer is one of the most affordable MPVs in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 489 million to VND 599 million. However, its exterior design may not appeal to all buyers.

The Stargazer is powered by a Smartstream G 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that delivers 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. It is paired with an intelligent IVT continuously variable transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

Kia Carens: 329 units

Closely following the Hyundai Stargazer is its compatriot, the Kia Carens. This Korean MPV found 329 buyers in Vietnam, reflecting a modest 2.8% increase.

Kia Carens

Kia Vietnam currently offers four variants of the Carens: 1.5G IVT (equipped with auxiliary brakes), 1.5G Luxury, 1.4T Signature (7S), and 1.5G IVT. Prices range from VND 636 million to VND 764 million, which may not be the most competitive in the segment. In May 2025, Kia is offering a VND 15 million discount on all variants, reducing the effective price range to VND 621 million to VND 749 million.

The Kia Carens is offered with two engine options: a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, paired with an IVT continuously variable transmission; and a turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder gasoline engine generating 138 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Honda BR-V: 232 units

The Honda BR-V experienced a significant sales decline of 63.1%, with only 232 units sold. Consequently, it dropped from the second position in the segment to seventh place.

Honda BR-V

To boost sales, Honda is offering attractive promotions for the BR-V in May 2025. The company is providing a 50% discount on registration fees and a one-year Honda brand insurance policy for the standard G variant. The registration fee discount alone translates to a savings of VND 31 million.

Similar to other Honda models, the BR-V doesn’t stand out in terms of pricing within the MPV segment, with prices ranging from VND 629 million to VND 705 million. However, it boasts an attractive SUV-like design, advanced ADAS safety features, and a highly-regarded driving experience.

Under the hood, the Honda BR-V is equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder i-VTEC DOHC gasoline engine that produces 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

Suzuki XL7: 195 units

April 2025 was not a successful month for the Suzuki XL7, as sales dropped by 29% to 195 units. The incentives offered, including a 50% discount on registration fees, a VND 20 million gift, and genuine accessories, seemed insufficient to convince buyers.

Suzuki XL7

In May 2025, the Suzuki XL7 produced in 2024 (VIN number 2024) continues to offer the same promotions as the previous month, with a total value of VND 55 million. Meanwhile, the 2025 VIN number model comes with a 50% discount on registration
