As major cities tighten emission standards and restrict older gasoline-powered vehicles, electric scooters are becoming an increasingly popular choice, especially among students. Embracing the growing green transition movement in Vietnam, many families are opting for cleaner, safer, and more economical transportation options for their children.

Leading this trend is the VinFast Evo Lite Neo, a scooter that stands out for its youthful design, safety features, and low operating costs. It has captured the attention of both students and parents alike.

Unlike other student scooters that often lack aesthetic appeal, the VinFast Evo Lite Neo makes a statement with its stylish design. Its look harkens back to classic Italian scooters, while its diverse color palette ensures a modern touch that appeals to young riders.

Measuring 1,806 mm in length and with a seat height of just 750 mm, this scooter is particularly suited for younger riders. It’s easy to handle, maneuver, and navigate through tight alleys.

“I love the Evo Lite Neo because it’s compact, easy to ride, and still looks stylish and cool,” said Minh Anh, a 10th-grade student from Hanoi. “It’s convenient for going to school every day, and it’s lightweight for taking up and down slopes or parking,” she added.

The student also acknowledged that the Evo Lite Neo’s impressive range of up to 78 km on a single charge is more than sufficient for her daily commute.

In terms of performance, the Evo Lite Neo is designed with a top speed of 49 km/h, striking a balance between confidence for students and safety for those without a driver’s license. This feature is particularly reassuring for parents.

Winning Over Parents

While the design appeals to students, it’s the features and after-sales policies that truly convince parents to make the purchase.

Priced at just 14.4 million VND, which is lower than even basic non-electric scooters, the VinFast Evo Lite Neo offers exceptional value. It boasts full LED lights and a digital display, features rarely found even in higher-segment scooters.

The front disc brake ensures safety during sudden stops, a significant advantage for young riders who may lack experience in handling unexpected situations. Additionally, the IP67-rated waterproof motor provides a distinct advantage over gasoline-powered scooters, especially in Vietnam’s rainy climate.

“The Evo Lite Neo feels more like a piece of technology than just a scooter,” said Mr. Manh Hung, a parent from Ho Chi Minh City. “The bright LED lights and digital display give me peace of mind when my child rides at night. And with the waterproof motor, I don’t have to worry about them getting stranded in the rain,” he added.

Mr. Hung shared that his child previously rode an old 50cc gasoline scooter, which was heavy and prone to breakdowns. By switching to the electric VinFast Evo Lite Neo, his family has enjoyed numerous benefits. They no longer have to deal with fuel costs, odors, or maintenance associated with gasoline engines.

Currently, electric vehicle charging at V-Green public stations across the country is free until May 2026. Even after this promotional period ends, a full charge will cost only 3,000-4,000 VND (based on residential electricity rates), which is a fraction of the cost of gasoline.

For his child’s average monthly commute of 500 km, Mr. Hung estimates that he will spend only around 30,000 VND on electricity, which is less than the price of a cup of milk tea. In comparison, the same distance on a gasoline scooter would cost 200,000 VND, six times more than the electric alternative.

In the long run, the cost difference between the Evo Lite Neo and a gasoline scooter is even more significant, as electric scooters do not require oil changes, air filter replacements, or spark plug maintenance. Mr. Hung is confident that his child will be able to use the scooter throughout high school and even into university.

Additionally, Mr. Hung is reassured by the knowledge that gasoline-powered cars and scooters will soon be restricted from entering inner-city areas in major cities if they do not meet emission control standards. “By choosing the VinFast electric scooter, my child can continue using it for a long time without worrying about future emission standards. It’s a win-win situation,” he concluded.
