Ford has recently announced the official pricing for its heavy-duty pickup truck, the Ranger Super Duty, after its global debut about two months ago.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty starts at a base price of AUD 82,990 – AUD 89,990 (approximately VND 1.41 billion – VND 1.53 billion), excluding on-road costs. The price of the top-tier Super Duty Dual-cab XLT variant is yet to be revealed.
The price of the Super Duty single-cab variant is nearly double that of the standard Ranger with the same configuration. On the other hand, the Super Duty chassis with a double cab is priced about AUD 23,000 (approximately VND 389.7 million) higher than the Ranger XLT V6 with a similar body style and only AUD 450 (approximately VND 7.62 million) less than the high-performance Ranger Raptor V6.
It’s noteworthy that all variants of the Ford Ranger Super Duty come standard with a bare chassis, meaning they don’t include a cargo bed. Customers who wish to add a cargo bed will need to spend an additional AUD 5,966 to AUD 9,376 (approximately VND 101 million to VND 159 million), depending on the design and color-matching with the body.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty is equipped with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle has a larger fuel tank capacity of 130 liters, enabling a driving range of over 1,000 kilometers.
As a specialized upgrade, the Ranger Super Duty is designed to meet the demands of heavy-duty hauling and rugged off-road performance. It is powered by a 3.0L turbocharged diesel V6 engine that produces 206 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford has stated that they have made hardware changes to the V6 engine to improve reliability, as previous versions could overheat and leak.
The Super Duty has a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 kg (with brakes), and a combined gross vehicle mass of up to 8,000 kg. It comes standard with 18-inch wheels and eight lug nuts, along with 33-inch all-terrain tires. The large 130-liter fuel tank allows for a driving range of up to 1,000 kilometers on a full tank.
Ford has also reinforced the suspension and chassis to accommodate higher payloads and added underbody protection for enhanced durability in challenging terrain. The vehicle’s water-wading depth has been increased from 800 mm to 850 mm.
