The Mazda RX-8, a rare sports car with a unique rotary engine, has been spotted in Hanoi, Vietnam. Enthusiasts of Japanese cars, particularly those fond of JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) vehicles, consider the RX-8 a staple in their collection, regardless of their level of expertise.

This particular Mazda RX-8 stands out with its vibrant red paint job, a refreshing change from the more commonly seen banana yellow, orange, white, and black variants. Owned by a local enthusiast in Hanoi, the car has reportedly undergone an engine swap, as the original Renesis rotary engine is known to be challenging to maintain.

The exterior of the car features a striking combination of red paint with black accents on the front and rear bumpers and side skirts. The custom five-spoke wheels perfectly complement the flared wheel arches, adding to the overall sporty aesthetic. The interior of the car continues the red theme with red leather upholstery.

One of the most distinctive features of the Mazda RX-8 is its symmetrical door design, reminiscent of Rolls-Royce models. However, the absence of a B-pillar gives the car a unique and appealing character.

As a sports car designed over two decades ago, modern amenities are understandably lacking in the RX-8. Nonetheless, it boasts a premium Bose sound system. The rear seats offer limited legroom, but the absence of a B-pillar makes entering and exiting the vehicle more convenient for rear passengers.

Under the hood, the Mazda RX-8 is powered by the renowned Renesis rotary engine, with a displacement of just 1.3 liters. This unique engine produces a modest 189 horsepower in earlier models, later increased to 238 horsepower in the 2008-2012 versions.

The small engine displacement offers financial benefits to Japanese consumers, as it falls below the 1.5-liter threshold for annual road tax in Japan. The RX-8 is offered with either a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, depending on the market.
