Chinese tech firm Kuickwheel has unveiled the Skyrider X6, a three-wheeled, electric motorcycle with transformative land and air capabilities.
The Skyrider X6 is now available for pre-order on the JD.com e-commerce platform, priced at 498,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 1.8 billion VND).
On the ground, the Skyrider X6 functions as a three-wheeled electric motorcycle with a unique “reverse trike” design: two wheels in the front and one in the rear. It features a rear-wheel-drive system for improved stability. The electric motor enables a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of up to 200 km on a single charge.
When switched to flight mode, the Skyrider X6 transforms into a personal aerial vehicle with six electric motors and six propellers, capable of vertical take-off and landing. It has a maximum flight speed of 72 km/h and a flight time of around 20 minutes. Kuickwheel positions this vehicle as an ideal solution for short distances and emergency transportation in urban areas.
To optimize flight performance, the Skyrider X6’s body is crafted from lightweight carbon fiber composite and aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, ensuring durability and safety while reducing weight. It is equipped with a 10.5 kWh battery that supports standard automotive DC fast charging, taking about an hour to fully charge.
The Skyrider X6 also boasts modern features such as automatic take-off and landing, flight path planning, and autonomous flight mode. For experienced users, the vehicle can be manually operated using a dedicated control stick.
Safety is a key focus of the Skyrider X6’s design. Its independent motor power supply ensures continued flight even if one of the motors fails. The vehicle also includes a backup control system and motor, as well as an automatic rescue parachute for emergency situations.
Previously, Kuickwheel introduced the Skyrider X1 prototype at the 2025 CES Technology Exhibition. The X1 features retractable wheels, a 4-axis flight system with 8 propellers, and DC fast charging support, allowing an 80% charge in just 30 minutes. It also boasts a triple-control system and a super-fast emergency parachute that deploys in just 0.3 seconds.
According to Kuickwheel, personal air travel can significantly reduce travel time in large cities. For example, a journey from Pudong to Puxi in Shanghai, which takes 90 minutes by car, could be reduced to just 15 minutes using a flying vehicle like the Skyrider.
The estimated operating cost is approximately 3 yuan per kilometer (equivalent to 11,000 VND per kilometer) in flight mode. Annual maintenance costs range from 20,000 to 30,000 yuan (approximately 72 to 109 million VND).
Despite its promising potential, the Skyrider X6 faces significant legal challenges. In China, the low-altitude civil airspace below 200 meters is currently closed to personal aircraft, limiting its widespread deployment.
Additionally, operating the Skyrider X6 requires a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) pilot license, with associated training costing around 50,000 yuan (approximately 181 million VND), excluding other operating costs.
The Skyrider X6 is expected to compete directly with XPeng AeroHT’s flying car line, which is being developed by a Chinese startup and is priced at approximately 1.2 million yuan (4.35 billion VND), significantly higher than the Skyrider.
