In a recent development, Dubai-based quantitative trading firm Eqvilent’s boss, Stanislav Semenov, has made headlines with his purchase of a luxurious car from China: the Hongqi Guoli.
Hongqi Guoli is a vintage-style limousine often associated with dignitaries and high-ranking officials. It was first introduced in China in June 2024.
Semenov, a frequent attendee at Hongqi events in both China and Dubai, developed a particular interest in this domestic brand positioned in the ultra-luxury segment.
The Hongqi Guoli that he ordered features a unique two-tone color scheme: an exterior combination of emerald green and moonlight white, while the interior is finished in a contrasting dark green and white, creating a distinct personalized touch.
Hongqi Guoli impresses with its massive vertical waterfall grille at the front, paired with round headlights that protrude upward. The design, according to the brand, symbolizes the harmony between heaven and earth while exuding an authoritative presence.
The long hood features a Hongqi logo that can be retracted, tilting forward at a 23.5-degree angle, corresponding to the Earth’s axial tilt. This detail showcases the brand’s thoughtful design philosophy. Within the headlight assembly lie intricately crafted crystal blocks, accentuating the limousine’s exceptional status.
Aside from the distinctive color scheme, Semenov’s Guoli boasts intricate handcrafted details, including traditional Chinese paintings on the ceiling and center armrest. This is the highest-end option in Hongqi’s customization list and the reason behind the car’s export price of approximately $1.5 million, a significant increase from its starting price of 7.18 million Chinese yuan in China.
Under the hood lies a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 388 horsepower and 530 Nm of peak torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Despite a respectable 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h, the Guoli has a relatively high fuel consumption of around 15.2 liters per 100 km, necessitating an enormous 112-liter fuel tank.
Guoli sits at the pinnacle of Hongqi’s Golden Sunflower collection, a range of ultra-luxury vehicles developed specifically for leaders and ultra-wealthy individuals. Alongside the Guoli, Hongqi offers the Guoyao, Guoya, and Guoyue, forming an ecosystem inspired by the Chinese philosophy of “round sky and square earth.”
