The iconic Toyota Land Cruiser is no longer just a legendary off-road SUV; it has now taken on a completely new role as a commercial van.

With an official conversion by Toyota, the Land Cruiser Commercial targets customers who require cargo-carrying capabilities in challenging terrain.

Based on the latest generation Land Cruiser, this two-seat van maintains the rugged and powerful design of an off-road SUV while reconfiguring the interior space for dedicated cargo purposes.

Assembled and converted at the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire, UK, the rear seats have been removed to make way for a 2,000-liter cargo area with a length of 1,685 mm. The cabin is separated by a metal bulkhead, while the rear side windows are sealed with body-colored steel panels, creating a discreet yet distinctively “Land Cruiser” appearance.

Although the cargo area is smaller than the previous generation and only slightly more than half the capacity of the Toyota ProAce City van (3,800 liters), the Land Cruiser Commercial excels in towing capacity, reaching an impressive 3.5 tons in the mid-size van segment.

Unlike many commercial vans that often compromise on features, the Land Cruiser Commercial retains numerous premium amenities, including: 18-inch alloy wheels; power-adjustable, heated front seats; heated steering wheel; dual-zone climate control; power tailgate with independent rear window opening; a 9-inch central display; and the Toyota Safety Sense package.

Toyota positions this version for professional or heavy-industry customers who require a cargo-carrying vehicle with superior off-road capabilities, without the need for a multi-seat cabin offered by pickup trucks like the Hilux.

Powering the vehicle is the familiar 2.8-liter diesel engine producing 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, coupled with a four-wheel-drive system, an automatic transmission, and diverse terrain modes.

It will be exclusively sold in the UK market from August 2025, priced from £52,729 (approximately 1.87 billion VND). The first deliveries are expected to begin in September. Toyota currently has no plans to expand to other markets, but the company affirms that producing left-hand-drive configurations would not be challenging if the demand arises.

Coinciding with the launch of the van version, Toyota also announced plans to upgrade the entire Land Cruiser range in Europe to a 48V mild-hybrid diesel system by the end of 2025. The new system combines an electric motor, a 4.3Ah lithium-ion battery, and a DC-DC converter, adding 16 horsepower and 65 Nm of torque, resulting in improved responsiveness, smoother starts, and reduced CO2 emissions.

Toyota confirms that commercial versions such as the Land Cruiser Commercial will also be equipped with the mild-hybrid system, underscoring the brand’s commitment to enhancing performance and sustainability in its renowned SUV lineup.
