The latest Kia Sorento has been spotted at a vehicle emission testing center in Hanoi, capturing the attention of domestic media. This suggests that the launch of this model in Vietnam is imminent, with some sources indicating it could be as soon as this July.

While the Kia Sorento of the new generation was first spotted in Vietnam last year, it was heavily camouflaged. In contrast, the vehicle recently seen at a Hanoi emission testing station was completely exposed, revealing distinct designs for the rear end and rims.

The 2025 Kia Sorento will not deviate significantly from its predecessor in terms of design. It adopts the Opposites United design language, similar to other models under the Kia brand, such as the Kia Seltos, Carnival, Morning, and EV9.

The resemblance among these models is evident in the front section of the Sorento, featuring new vertically positioned LED headlights, an evolved ‘tiger nose’ grille, smaller vertical air intakes in the corners, and distinct fog lights.

Additionally, it boasts new 20-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, and vertical LED taillights, all inspired by constellations. The design of the front and rear lower bumper garnishes has also been updated.

Inside the Kia Sorento 2025, the most notable feature is the new curved dashboard screen, a design element shared with other Kia and Hyundai models. Embodying the concept of “infinite boundary-breaking,” this screen integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen.

Another change is the central air conditioning vents, which have been streamlined and extended across the dashboard, resulting in the air conditioning control panel being moved downward. Meanwhile, the corner air vents on the dashboard no longer feature the previous two-tier design.

Other new equipment includes an electric trunk lid that can be automatically closed when the smart key moves out of the sensing range, a head-up display (HUD), and the second-generation Kia Digital Key.

The Kia Sorento 2025 in Vietnam is likely to retain the same engine options as its predecessor. These include the Smartstream 2.5 MPI four-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.5 liters, producing 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The second option is the Smartstream D2.2, a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 198 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Thirdly, a new hybrid powertrain, similar to the one found in the Kia Carnival HEV 2025 sold in Vietnam, will be introduced. Specifically, the Kia Sorento HEV 2025 will be equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor. This motor is more powerful, delivering 47.7 kW (approximately 65 horsepower) instead of the previous 44.2 kW (60 horsepower).

Together, the system produces 245 horsepower and 366 Nm of torque. Not only is it more powerful, but it’s also more fuel-efficient, achieving an average consumption of 15.7 km/l (approximately 6.36 liters/100 km).

Finally, a plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. However, it pairs with a more powerful 90-horsepower electric motor that delivers 304 Nm of torque.
