Mazda has recently announced the launch date for the 9th generation of its popular CX-5 crossover SUV. The global unveiling of the new Mazda CX-5 will take place on the morning of July 10, 2025, according to local time.
The all-new Mazda CX-5 is set for its global debut.
Along with the announcement, Mazda has also released a series of teaser images of the 2026 CX-5. According to Mazda, the new model will feature a sharper exterior design, a more spacious and refined interior, and upgraded technology. The driving experience is described as being “more enjoyable and intuitive.”
The teaser images released by Mazda seem to match the vehicle that was leaked some time ago. It appears that the design has evolved rather than undergone a complete overhaul.

The new CX-5 is expected to retain the overall proportions of the current model. However, the vehicle’s lines have become more refined and sharper, taking inspiration from the larger Mazda CX-90.
A standout feature of the new Mazda CX-5 is the curved headlight design that flows into the grille, reminiscent of the style seen on the discontinued Mercedes-Benz EQC. The grille maintains its distinctive shape but now features a new mesh pattern and thinner chrome trim.
Below, the front bumper has a sharper design, while the faux air vents on the sides have been removed. The bumper also incorporates a larger central air intake, giving the front end a more assertive look.

The wheel arches are surrounded by unpainted plastic cladding, giving the new CX-5 a rugged and SUV-like appearance. At the rear, the familiar “L”-shaped taillights create a sense of continuity with the front LED daytime running lights.

While there are no interior images available yet, it is likely that the CX-5 will receive interior upgrades with materials and technology borrowed from Mazda’s more premium offerings. Customers can expect improved quality, a larger infotainment screen, and design cues reminiscent of the Mazda CX-90 inside this SUV.
Previously, Mazda confirmed that the CX-5 would offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant developed entirely in-house. This version will introduce the new SkyActiv-Z gasoline engine, promising improved performance and fuel efficiency. However, the new engine will only be available from late 2027, so the initial hybrid model will use the current powertrain before transitioning to the SkyActiv-Z.
The CX-5 is currently Mazda’s best-selling model globally and in Vietnam. Therefore, the launch of this new generation holds significant importance for the Japanese brand.
