Toyota has just unveiled an all-new hybrid version of its rugged Land Cruiser 300 Series SUV, boasting an unprecedented level of electrification in its powertrain.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series Hybrid is equipped with a hybrid system that combines a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted through a 10-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system.
Toyota states that the electric motor not only reduces fuel consumption but also improves throttle response, especially in situations involving steep inclines or challenging terrain—a key characteristic of the Land Cruiser lineage.
The Japanese automaker emphasizes that the Land Cruiser hybrid retains its core philosophy of durability, reliability, and off-road readiness. The integration of the electric motor enhances smoothness and precision without compromising the Land Cruiser’s distinctive character.
Despite the electrification, the vehicle maintains a practical performance focus, with suspension, chassis, and drivetrain refinements that preserve its traditional off-road capabilities.
The Land Cruiser 300 Series Hybrid differs from its previous gasoline and diesel counterparts with distinct identifiers such as a redesigned grille and front bumper (on the VXR trim). It features a “457 TT” logo and a “HEV” badge at the rear. The interior boasts a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with a hybrid-specific interface.
Another notable change is the reduction in fuel tank capacity to 68 liters (compared to 80 liters in the gasoline version), but the hybrid system’s fuel efficiency compensates for this limitation.
In the UAE market, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series Hybrid is now available in two trims: the VXR hybrid and the GR-Sport hybrid, priced at $106,200 and $111,600 respectively (approximately 2.77 – 2.91 billion VND). In Australia, the vehicle is expected to be introduced in early 2026, with Toyota confirming its expansion to Japan and other Asian markets in the near future.
As for the Vietnamese market, Toyota has not announced specific plans, but with the ongoing electrification of its product lineup and the growing demand for large-sized SUVs, it’s only a matter of time before the Land Cruiser hybrid makes its debut in the country.
